To be fair, I've seen meme-bers of both "sides" do this. I understand wanting to avoid the trolls. But the reality is if we refuse to have conversations about topics, we'll never make any progress. Whether it's swaying people to our position, or learning the flaws in our position. And typically, neither "side" is 100% right.
