So, if America banned several independent but prominent parties with ties to the Taliban, ISIS, etc, while we were at war with them; you’d be against that?

Interesting.

Defend your view on that.

it would never happen and it shouldn't. perhaps their close ties would aid in ending warfare, or, perhaps people just wouldn't vote for them. either way, the power to elect representatives to government belongs to the people, not the current head of state.

In a democracy, perhaps, but not a republic.

During the American Revolution, loyalists played zero role in the construction and election of the emerging parties. Loyalists were actively attacked and their properties confiscated. They were labeled traitors, often without trial, and were certainly not allowed to participate in any way, voting or running for office.

The current Ukrainian government has only been in existence for less than two decades. Possibly less as the Pro-Russian representatives before Zelenskyy, who did much to dismantle the recently established independent state, was ousted by way of revolution.

It is practical for Zelenskyy to sever ties with people who may have Russian sympathies as the people, who already have revolted against them, have already made their intentions clear.

In fact, one of the reasons Russia invaded was because the Ukranian nationalist party won. Once it became obvious they would not support Russia as their predecessors would, and Zelenskyy refused to do so or risk his own ousting by violent revolution; so far he has made the practical choice.

I honestly cannot find anywhere where Zelenskyy banned ALL opposition parties, but rather a high number of them. If he did ban all opposition, then absolutely that is most disgraceful. But again, I haven't been able to verify that in any way.

Do you believe everyone has the right to vote and that their vote matters? Or should voting be a privilege to only some people within the country?

Do you believe every representative should be elected by the people or should there be a bureaucracy that fairly determines some of the representation to prevent a tyrannical majority that may unwittingly vote against the country’s best interests?

Sounds like you’re assuming and making things up to fit your narrative.

I don’t know how many political parties Ukraine has nor what parties were banned. Not from lack of trying.

But what if I told you that the US has 16 political parties that are unable to participate in the general election? That sounds like a lot, too, doesn't it? I mean it’s twice as many that Zelenskyy has banned so is the US twice as worse?

It’s actually true. And it includes some pretty gnarly groups. But they just can’t seem to scrounge up the necessary cash to participate. Shucks! It’s almost like we don’t want foreign influence by Stalinists, communists, socialists, or Nazi in this country. While we haven’t banned them, they are stopped at the door for lack of financial support.

But guess what? These only make up half of the national independent parties in the US.

So unless you KNOW that 8 parties is all Ukraine has, then show me.

If you don’t, kindly shut up if all you’re going to do is make things up.

Kay, thanks!

It's like when Russia kill civilians in Ukraine, it's bad.
When the US kill civilians in half a dozen middle eastern countries, for over 20 years, it's not only good, but they don't even know or care about it thanks to 24/7 propaganda outlets disguised as 'news'.

Religon And Politics often make some people lose all perspective and give way to ranting and raving and carrying on like emotional children. They either refuse to discuss it with reason, or else they prefer argumentum ad hominum, which is a hell of a way to conduct a discussion. Well, anyhow, not long ago, I was talking about the elections, and how the campaigns were ignoring the issues, and sticking instead to invective and personal crap that had nothing to do with the substantive problems of running a government, which is all true, as you know if you followed the speeches and so-called debates of the candidates. Anyhow, one of the guys I was talking with said not a word in the whole conversation except at the end when he suddenly chuckled and said we were all full of shit, and why didn't we go live in Russia or China if that was the way we all hated the United States Of America. Next thing you know the whole blooming discussion was more like a brawl, And the epithets flew thick and fast, and the noise was incredible. Someone said "son of a bitch", and I think he said "bastard". I couldn't be sure, it was all so confusing. Well, anyhow, I was attempting to get it all back on a rational level. I tried, for example, to talk to the one who had started it all, and I asked him just what did he mean we were all full of shit. Was he making a statement of fact as he knew it, and where was his documentation to back up his claim? I think Socrates would've been proud of the way I refuted his argument. That is, I tried to refute it, but all he could offer by way of rebuttal was more of the same about how we were all full of shit. But he wouldn't say why, he just kept on repeating it, that and the part about Russia and China and communist dupes, and I'll have to confess that I got a bit angry and told him to stuff his ideas up his ass, which you don't have to tell me is hardly a way to convince anyone in an argument. Then he got salty and threatened to give me a punch in the mouth if I didn't shut up, and I really got hot, and the others did too, and we all beat the shit out of mister conservative. And, after all, he had only himself to be blamed. This is still a free country, And anyone telling a fellow like me, "Brother, you're full of shit", better be good and ready to answer politely when asked if he'd care to say why.

Oh, the OP means THAT.

Trump wasn't even locked up, he waited in a special area set aside for him and not the 'plebs,' and he sure didn't spend the night, not even the day.
These people should ask anyone who's been arrested or works with the system in NYC what processing is like and how many hours it takes. pfffft, Trump went from arrival dowtown to giving a speech in Fla in less time than the average arrest makes it into the holding cell to wait to see the judge at the courthouse.

Not to mention the whole dang thang was broadcast on live tv on all the local channels and the news ones too.
Granted, Pigbutt Arkansas's Ch 11 maybe didn't want to preempt this month's Turkey Call & Shoot Contest, but surely they got the other channels anyways. Maybe. Oh, and then they kept talking about it for the next 3 days.

They think Arkansas still votes for Democrats. Tmk, they haven’t voted for a Democrat since Bill. Even for governor, if I’m not mistaken.

Meanwhile this Asa bloke has been on my radar for a while and I think he would’ve a commendable and popular Republican presidential candidate. But alas… I bet they’ll say he is some kind of Hillary supporter and forget he has an (R) by his name. Certainly his dissent against Trump makes him a RINO to them.

I've run out of mt free articles allotment for the month with the NYT, and am too tired to go VPN myself access (plus that's cheating them), so I had to make due with elsewhere. I still need to read more, but amway tired.

Thing is, even he said something about lacking that star appeal (something to that effect). Sadly, superficial is what the masses tend to go by...

He does seem better than the usual.

Pro-communism, not pro-Putin.

Really pro-anything Russia is just kinda not cool.

And relax. Russia, Putin, nor are the Russian Communists gonna nuke us anymore than we them.

North Korea, on the otherhand, is going to nuke us. Maybe within a century? Give or take 30 years or so.

You’ll know they’ll do it whenever they suddenly stop saber waving. It’s not when they’re talking smack when you should get nervous. That’s just their way of doing “good” business. It’s when they get real quiet that you should start to actually worry.

One of the reasons why Russia wants Ukraine is it has resources, both material goods and farming. While I wouldn’t put it past Russia to nuke them in a sort of, “if we can’t have it, no one will,” it would not serve them well to nuke farmers.

And they may nuke the non-farm land but then Russia will have to drop the victim card charade they’ve been playing up for decades.

“We’ve never dropped a bomb on a country” bit that Putin loves so much. That’s assuming they even care about hypocrisy which in the 21st century, being a hypocrite is hardly grounds for disreputable reputation.

If we’re all hypocrites, after all, then the word starts to lose its meaning.
