I am pro-freedom, pro-life and pro-pursuit of happiness. The more freedom the happier our lives will be. Those who are trying to give us a social credit score are opposed to freedom, life and the pursuit of happiness. They want power and control.

We are not even close to the free country that our founding fathers gave us and that includes the fact that slavery was allowed. The difference is that lack of freedom that slaves had has been spread out over all of us by the government. We are slaves to the government. We work most of the year just to give that money to the government. If we fail to pay or property taxes the state governments kicks us off our land regardless if we have paid off our mortgage or not. The money we earn is taxed. Our employers pays a tax on the money they pay us. Then when we use the money we earned we pay sales tax. If it is a cell phone bill there is an additional tax added to our bill. If we put money into a retirement fund we don't pay taxes on that money when it is put it but when we need it most (i.e. retirement) the government taxes it. If we don't have a retirement fund and are just going to try to make it on social security, we are taxed on our social security income.

And it is not just taxes that limits our freedom. It is the gazillion laws that are on the books. Several years ago I heard about a book a guy had written about our excessive IRS laws, not including all other laws. He said that every taxpayer, regardless of how honest and diligent they were in making sure that they were compliant with tax law, can be found guilty of at least 3 felonies. That's just the IRS. I am sure that we could be found guilty of many more felonies than that if the government decided to persecute someone.

That is not good. The founder fathers said that when the government fears the people there is freedom and when the people fear the government there is tyranny. We have tyranny.

I encourage you to read the 14th Amendment. Not a single man woman or child is free since the passing of the 14th. It bassically said , ALL ARE ENSLAVED.

Ok. I just read the 14th amendment. I have run into people before that have an issue with the word "citizen". I never really paid much attention to them but I got the impression that they thought that "citizen" meant servant to the government. Is that what you are saying?

I don't look at "citizen" in any other way than protected by the guarantees of the Constitution. Protected from the government.

But if you want to talk about slavery, it has nothing to do with the 14th amendment. It all began with a narcissistic Progressive control freak named Woodrow Wilson. He was the beginning of the end of our freedom. He forced the IRS on us so that we now work for the government and not ourselves.

I get that but I think that has to do with the law. We are subject to the jurisdiction which is the law. But I agree with you. The wording does sound very authoritarian. Taken with the rest of the amendment, especially when the reiterated the language in the Declaration of Independence, somewhat tones that language down. We are still guaranteed a right to live and liberty and instead of pursuit of happiness they replaced it with property.. Which is what Jefferson originally put in the Declaration but took it out because he though that slave owners would use that to justify owning slaves.

The right to own property is the most fundamental right. It is the right which life and liberty depend on. So that is a good thing. If we are not allowed to own property then someone else will take ownership and we will be subject to them.

But there is something else that is disconcerting about the 14th. It punished states who fought against the Union in the Civil War. If anyone in those states fought for the Confederacy they could not hold public office. So that eliminated the rights of those states to send representatives to Congress that represented the people of those states for at least a generation. This gave rise to "scalawags" and "carpetbaggers" who came down from the northern states and ran for "representatives" of the Southern states. These people were representing themselves, much like how Congress only represents themselves today. Pretty much everyone in Congress now is the modern day equivalent of the "scalawags" and "carpetbaggers" of about 160 years ago.

Goods and services are not valued based on the currency but rather on what the currency represents. The dollar used to be based on gold, now it is partially based on oil. The rest is based on the promise of our political leaders, which is worthless.

Because goods and services are based on the value of the raw materials used and the labor costs it now takes more dollars to equal that value.
