I'm not against it, but technology needs to happen organically. 150 years ago this message was brought to you by telegraph..

Surprising enough it took almost 100 years to get everyone hooked up.

Yep. Sure, the cars don't have exhaust, but those that want to jam EV technology down our throats never have an answer when you ask them the environmental impact of EVs, cradle to grave.

They don't like to address where the lithium for the batteries come from, either...

Now, I am not 100% against electric cars (as pointless as I think they are), but I'm pretty sure we need a few generations to get this tech perfected. It's not like updating a stupid iPhone, for crying out loud.

This meme could resemble a more sensible EV: an electric car powered by a fuel cell instead of a battery. The fuel cell would be petroleum powered. The resulting car would be more reliable (electric motors are more reliable than engines), vastly more fuel efficient than an engine powered car, and of course- the re-charging and "range anxiety" issues would be non-existent (the car could be re-fueled in a few minutes at existing gas stations). The greenies would never allow it, though: a petroleum fuel cell produces some carbon dioxide (though with far lower carbon emissions than internal combustion engines). The environmentalist's battery powered quest for so-called Zero-Emissions Perfection (just ignore the cradle-to-grave toxicity of the batteries and that pesky powerplant, ok?) prevents them from allowing something that would be a vast improvement. By the way, petroleum fuel cells are being manufactured already for stationary power systems.

For some odd reason, they are also seeing more problems with rusting of brakes on electric vehicles too...

So, you still need gas, but hey, clean air only matters so much, until you need to get to your 3rd cousins funeral.

The carbon footprint of 350 Million people in the United States, no matter how green we get.... Will never offset the pollution produced by China or the Middle East.

When the other players in the world clean air have Billions of people using billions of people's worth of energy, the small Millions over here can't do squat to help the global stage.
