The MLB just moved from Georgia to Colorado.
Colorado has Voter ID laws.
Colorado has less diversity than Georgia.

Dear MLB, you stink at this whole virtue-signaling thing.

Right. Because starting a decade ago, companies paid big money to networks to broadcast their ads on shows that nobody watches.

Cancel culture isn’t the same as boycotting. The left is too dumb to realize that depriving a corporation, that enters the political realm, of profit is not the same as demanding that they be terminated or made illegal.
3 ups, 4y
You are correct.

Cancel Culture is usually a corporate attempt to appeal to political correctness which is in and of itself a most dubious proposition. Especially if it's purely for capital investments rather than a genuine desire for equality.

Cancel Culture is more egregious when a corporation uses it's power to silence it's own workers that do not tow the company line during off-hours or in their personal lives.

The right is too dumb to realize they used to say “corporations are people” and corporations/businesses have rights. I’m sure you’ll say they do and people have the right to boycott them. Well…celebrities are businesses and “cancel culture” works that way too when people “boycott” them and their employers…also businesses react in a way that best suits their business. It’s all business.

MLB, NFL, Nike etc will be fine. With our without the boycotting.

That’s not what the NFL and NBA said. MLB will suffer the consequences of alienating their customers. They will still play but with less income and athletes will not see the same lucrative contracts.

On the surface, there is nothing inherently wrong with boycotting, and in a way, most corporations tend to benefit from inciting political controversy that results in the free advertisement of people they may perceive as ... undesirable advocating that people NOT buy their product.

Only in that particular instance is there any real link to cancel culture and boycotting. In short, Cancel Culture is about capital control. The risk of being boycotted is a capital gambling.

In 2009, Mitch McConnell commended the Supreme Court's decision on Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission because he said it was "an important step in the direction of restoring First Amendment rights."

For those who don't know, the decision held that the free speech clause of the First Amendment prohibits the government from restricting independent expenditures for political communications by corporations.

The decision was essentially the birth of super PACs, political action committees that can accept unlimited contributions from individuals, corporations, and unions as long as the committee only "indirectly" supports a specific political candidate.

Essentially, Mitch thinks corporations are protected by free speech when they are spending money to influence elections, but not when they're, you know, speaking.

Yep, never been a fan of those things. I'll be honest, I've never much understood how they worked but it awfully sounds like illegal lobbying or open bribery to me. Never a good thing for a government to be run strictly by corporate interests.

Who says Coke does not have the right to free speech, or for that matter MLB moving their venue.

They can do as they please.

I pretty much have given up all pop, but if I did have one it would be Diet Coke. My decision to not buy Coke products will not hurt them one iota, but I will have the knowledge thatI do not support their racist policies.

Aren't you leftists for not supporting racism?

As for MLB I lost interest in that years ago.
0 ups, 4y
Well, I can’t speak for leftists since I’m not one.

I’ve not much cared for boycotting anything. Including Amazon, Walmart, Disney, Nike, Chick-Fil-A, MLB, and Coke. All products I use. Sometimes because there just aren’t any alternatives. Or good alternatives.

I’m registered to vote Republican primaries but haven’t done so since I was 18 which was at least twenty years ago.

I also own a gun, pro-choice, and go to church so...

So, what little label do you wanna try to squeeze me in?

Personally, I don’t give a damn. But what I do give a damn?

Corporations having too much control. And I don’t think they deserve government bailouts or tax reliefs.

If any one of those corporations went poof tomorrow, I’ll live. And the people they employee will figure it out.

You've got to have a pretty severe case of TDS to see a "Poor little snowflake Trumper" in that photo.

Besides, that little guy is no snowflake! Assuming the photo isn't shopped, he's clearly got none of the symptoms of snowflakery.

1 up, 4y
That’s a lie, it doesn’t allow political operatives to do it. Most states don’t allow electioneering in the voting line or polls themselves.

I seriously know nothing about the law, except that one side claims what you're saying, and one side claims it makes elections more secure. So please explain how the law makes it harder for African Americans to vote. Thanks.

Sorry for my very late reply. I haven't spent much time on imglfip the last week or so.

I'm not sure a google search was what I had in mind when I asked you to explain how the law in GA make sit harder for African Americans to vote. Particularly a google search that is clearly not objective.

What I had hoped for, was a rational, intelligent, and hopefully brief explanation regarding what I had asked about, and I was hoping it would come from you, not a google search. Thanks anyway.

Isn't it racist to assume that black people can't do a simple task like getting an ID

Yes because IDs are so hard to get, that's why I have three government issued picture IDs. Maybe African-Americans are just too stupid or lazy to get one.
