Fact! I went to an inner city school! Almost no one had a chance. Lucky for me my dad moved. A friend was also lucky he moved with his dad! He became an All American! State Champion 2 times wrestler, State Champs in football! We both agree we would probably be dead if our dads did not move! He just happens to be black. He agrees 100 percent with Candace! You seems to be claiming on some level that environment shapes us. You and your friend were lucky enough to be able to leave the inner city environment (and therefore not fall victim to it)....... And yet you end your comment with something about the importance of not viewing yourself as a victim.

If the key is your mentality in a given situation, why are you telling a story about how exiting the environment was what saved you??

Seems to me a story about someone who remained there and excelled anyway due to their attitude would make considerably more sense.

One of the dumbest ideas I've come across is the idea that there is one cause for things. Environment can make a difference. Sure there are those who overcome their environment, but that's kind of a Hail Mary. It's difficult to overcome your environment, not impossible, but when you are surrounded by people reinforcing your victim mentality, its an uphill climb to overcome it.

You change the neighborhood by putting 5 police on every corner. You get rid of public schools and implement free school choice with vouchers.

Train teachers that everyone learns at their own pace and students with ADHD if given constant stimulus may actually suceed with given new items to learn at their own pace. The schools are still run with a loser, democrat mindset by teachers who could not perform in many cases and are the bottom 20 percent who go to college so they had to settle on teaching. Then they transfer their lazy loser attitudes to our kids. Why have 1000s of math teachers? Khan academy has most basic math any way. Just have people monitor computers and teach like on zoom at schools from real teachers not garbage Union teachers who are sub human brainwashed POS democrat losers. The mind set needs to change, Schools need to change and Teacher Unions need to be abolished to get Inner city schools to work. I went to one I know.

Schools started going down hill in the mid 90's

1. Teachers know that everyone learns at their own pace. The problem often goes higher up with administration and school districts who want to kick the can down the road with kids who are struggling. I'm not saying there aren't shit teachers out there but the good ones often don't have a choice and are told to pass kids regardless of their grades.
2. ADHD is on the list of federally recognized disabilities and therefore eligible for special education. You try teaching class 7 hrs a day/ 5 days a week with 14 kids that are ADHD and get back to us on whether you survived.
3. Teachers have to get their BA, pass numerous state tests, take two more years for their credential, and continue to take classes throughout their career. It's a bullshit Repug fallacy that they're the bottom 20 % who "settled" on teaching. People go into the career to make a difference, because they care about helping kids, etc. because they *want* to teach.
4. Teachers don't transfer loser attitudes to kids. Parents do that.
I don't even know where to start to address the rest of your drivel as it was barely comprehensible. But I do agree the educational system needs an overhaul. The pandemic has shed a lot of light on this situation.

I've discussed things with u before. Rarely is there any give or middle ground with u.
But... yeah environment can make a difference in someone's life. If you grow up in an area where youth join gangs, do drugs etc, uncan fall victim into that. And yes it is possible to remain in that environment and not fall victim but a big part of that comes from your household and your upbringing. Obviously.

This isn't about me or even my views on this subject. I never actually made a claim here one way or the other. I was simply pointing out that someone else's personal story seemed like it didn't really support Candace Owens position.

The flower that blooms in adversity ... can do so because of their own constitution, because of their family upbringing, because of a change in environment, luck, church(?), law enforcement, teachers (believe it or not have saved millions of kids), the military... Hillary said it takes a village and she was right about that.

Not all kids have the make-up to overcome socio-economic challenges. Most will need help to do it. Why? Because it's f*cking hard. Not everyone's parents are able to just up and move. So many kids have f*cked up parents, f*cked up grandparents, f*cked up great-grandparents, who fell victims to their environment. Only 5% of people in the US are able to transcend the financial bracket they were born into.

It's just so easy for people like fake Owens to make sweeping statements like that about other people. But what tf does she know about any of it? Not everyone has the resources to sue other kids from high school. How she was even able to run in the same circles with the Mayor's son to begin with makes me think she has no idea what it's like to live in a real ghetto, much less how to get out of one. I've never really understood Candance Owen's position that doxing was okay as long as it was justified. Only to be doxed herself. Likely by the very so-called conservatives her site targeted. Her vitriol toward conservatives was petty and lacked much in the way of any real critical analysis. Her flip toward conservatism seemed forced as all she has done, from what I've read of her, is keep the very same petty criticisms and levied them at progressives.
