My father listened to him for years and was a huge fan. I started out in my "adult" voter's life as a Democrat and followed the herd mentality not to have room in my life for anything Rush Limbaugh. But after maturing, having a family of my own and seeing the world through truly adult eyes, I realized the hypocrisy and corruption of that party and turned my back on it. It was only this last year I started listening to Rush (catching his program at least twice a week). I came to understand why my father had respected the man, and now appreciate Rush's perceptive insights, style, humility and humor very much. Rush made his success not by fortunate birth but by the unyielding faith that hard work pays off. In doing so he reinvented talk radio and became the Father of the modern conservative platform. Liberals -with their globalist, often nihilistic sentiments- have resented him because he embraced the principal of thinking for one's self and for loving the nation of his birth. Because of this resentment, they will continue to disparage his name, his legacy. But for those of us who have heard his voice without the bleating of the herd resounding in our heads, the man will be remembered for his courage, his kindness and his enduring faith in one's abilities to succeed on our own terms.
