Democrats in California are definitely anti church and anti worship. They let you go to Walmart, Costco, the Strip Club but not church. Freakin travesty what our state has become. Those that want to make America Taxifornia are insane. Higher taxes, highest gas cost in the nation and yet the homeless encampments are larger and more prevalent than ever.

That is why we left our state. It got too crazy and people just gave into the dumbness.

Lol, sadly I’ve probably been there more than church.

I haven't been to a strip club in years, and I haven't been to church since I was a kid and had no say in the matter. The sad fact that I didn't know strip clubs are still open, tells me I've become waaaaay too settled in my current lifestyle!

While you don't need church, and I don't need church, to ignorantly believe that a) the govt can unilaterally suspend a constitutional right, and b) church is not critical for the mental and spiritual health of many, shows once again what an ignorant putz you truly are, Octavia.

It was WWII propaganda that applies to our own politicians and not an outside force. We are doing to ourselves that other countries could not.

I agree with them destroying free speech. Corporations are in bed with many politicians and support mostly democrats, look at campaign donations by companies.

No I agree that they want to do it, not that I want it. I am a purest with free speech. Say whatever you want whenever.

Could you provide me with the names of DC politicians who are putting forth bills and or legislation that would "outlaw" Christianity or restrict it

And please don't bother with the lockdown crap. A rational person knows it was down on a Temp bases. And SCOTUS did rule some small restrictions regarding the amount of people was ok

We were founded on Christian values so to have it completely removed you will need to replace the constitution.

looks like .

And how was America founded on christian values? Did I travel into a dimension where separation of church and state isn't a thing?
2 ups, 4y,
1 reply
Who founded America? It was the Puritans who fled England because of religious values being squashed. The founders all believed in God or followed the teachings to write the constitution. Separation of Church and State does not exist. It is meant that government can not promote a specific religion but those who serve can practice and make laws off of beliefs.

The puritans only had tiny settlements. They may have been some of the first here but they had close to no part in founding America. Also they were crazy. They burned women alive for witchcraft. The founders were christian, but they wanted religion out of government because England had a religious government. Wanting to stop bad religious policies is not destroying church.

Are you saying you don't want someone to be represented just because they are religious?
0 ups, 4y,

No I'm saying that people shouldn't have religious policies imposed on them

Would you consider "do not murder" and "do not steal" to be religious policies?

And what difference does it make if the policies are founded in religion or not? Everyone has the right to representation.
0 ups, 4y,

Do not murder is a policy that is naturally baked into the vast majority humanity and was not started by religion. Just because your religious laws aren't being imposed on every single American does not mean your religion is not being represented.

But you said you want religion to get out of government? So now I'm confused, do you want religious people to be represented or not?
0 ups, 4y,

Religious people are automatically represented by the first amendment. The institution of religion and government should be separate but that doesn't mean no politician should be religious. Religious politicians should look at numbers and citizen opinions instead of religious texts to decide policies.
1 up, 4y
Unless of course the people they're representing are religious, then they're not allowed to listen to the citizen opinions. Right?
0 ups, 4y
"Religious people are automatically represented by the first amendment"

Not at all what the first amendment is about. The first amendment says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion" - this is what you're constantly harping about in this thread. Please tell me the religion that congress has established?

"or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" - while it's true that congress is not the body that is prohibiting the free exercise thereof, state and local officials are doing a damn site good job of it, all in the name of public health.

"or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble" - same as above

Here in California they have been.

Do you *ever* actually know what you're talking / whining about?
2 ups, 4y
Oh! Alright, well I guess the fact that they've had churches in California closed for months isn't true because you said they haven't been destroying church! Phew! I was getting worried there
0 ups, 4y
Sorry for my slow reply Octavia. I was looking through your replies for another purpose, and came across this ignorant observation on your part.

Call it what you will, but when you deny people their constitutionally guaranteed right to freely exercise their religion, and churches are the way that is done, primarily, then a reasonable person would say they're destroying church.

Going to church... denied = destroyed.

Here's a civics refresher for you; the opening text from the First Amendment (you have heard of the first amendment, Octavia?

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"
