I say because there are like a million side effects on the ones on commercials

Right and for each side effect there is another medicine to take.

How about the ones that aggravate the symptoms you're supposed to cure?

"This anti-depressant has side effects like increased thoughts of suicide..." I'll take the depression, thanks!

Are you asking me what my comment is saying, or what I think we should do about it? Just wanna be clear.

what we should do about it

To be honest, I don't really know. But perhaps we should start with reining in big pharma and their blatant price gouging via regulation.

(Sorry for the very late reply.)

wow, three weeks flew lol.

theres always a way around regulation. (not trying to start an argument) regulation has been the cost of much freedom across the world. now maybe we could teach people to not be hypochondriacs... and improve the nutrition somehow. American food is awful

It is odd that the Simpsons had so many real life stuff years ago.

It's almost as if in certain instances, the profit motive is toxic and should be abolished!

it's really not even accurate to call modern medicine "medicine" because they do not have the goal nor intent of curing you, just selling you another drug.

I believe d*mn straight this is major reason. If pharmaceuticals and many who profit off disease only got paid for successful results, I dare say their priorities would change. Not all, of course, but too many. And as such, they focus on providing temporary comforts to the sick instead of actual cures.

and the democrats got lots of power because of COVID, they ain't gonna let that go so easily either.
2 ups, 4y
I think they will use it to force people to get the vaccine if you want to use public transportation and private business if you want to shop or go in their store.

And a patient lost is a customer lost. It makes sense to keep the patient alive, because that way, they come to the hospital later with more problems, so you can actually make more money off keeping the patient alive (also, it's not worth the risk of being shut down to get some extra money to a lot of hospitals).

So you think that hospitals actively kill people

not what I said. that's a strawman

You literally said that I would be surprised what I can live through, hinting at the idea that the diseases aren't the main killer in hospitals, which, in turn, leads to the idea that hospitals actively kill people. What did you mean?

Also, didn't I literally just say that killing a patient is a huge risk for not that much money, and only profitable under certain circumstances
0 ups, 4y
yes I did say that, and if you live, you didn't die. Simple as that. You also just used a slippery slope fallacy.
you'd be surprised with the control they have over your side effects. No you won't die, and it might not be a million problems at a time, but it's there. My aunt deals with law cases like this all the time. take cancer for instance, they are treating it quite successfully in Mexico with natural vitamins and such, but in the U.S, they more than half kill you with chemo that may or may not make the cancer cells come back faster and stronger.

let me clarify 'hospitals' and 'doctors offices' are two different things.

No, a patient cured equals work in college is worth it, making a profit, and saving a life. I swear, you conspiracy theorists never stop.
