True story - Denver had a neighborhood called "Stapleton" which sits on the ground of the original Denver airport that closed in the mid '90s when the new one was built.

Stapleton Airport was named after a long time Democrat Mayor by the same name. This guy, back in the day, used to be a member of the KIan, like all good Democrats, naturally.

So what did they do in this year of the cancel culture? You guessed it, boys and girls, they changed the name of the neighborhood.

There you go, racism all gone. Buh-bye.

I read an article that listed the above title as his official title and stated he oversaw Maryland, Delaware and the Virginia's. I now, thanks to your comment, think that is erroneous. I have deleted a meme I made that pointed that out but I will leave this comment here and stand corrected. It appears that you are correct. He was actually a leader in West Virginia with the title "Exalted Cyclops" of West Virginia. Thanks for the fact check!

There were early steps towards the civil rights movement and the party switch. In the 1930's, Elanor Roosevelt was a champion of civil rights and urged her husband, then president, to include that in the New Deal. Yes, the Democrats who pushed FOR civil rights and racial equality. You forget that the civil rights movement and advocacy by the northern dems of the civil rights act pushed the dixiecrats out of their own party and towards the other party with significant power, thus poisoning the Republicans and driving the still liberal elements of the Republican party to the democrats. The "party of Lincoln" drove out the people who held to the values of Lincoln.

So you're going to completely ignore the critical role the republican party played in the 1960's in terms of passing civil rights legislation... okay, I get it. Revisionist history is nothing new for either party. Just so you know, I'm not a big fan of the republicans by any stretch, and I've had never disliked the democrats until the party lost its mind.

Joe Biden made a clear gaffe due to a speech impediment. Northam did a terrible thing there, I'm not going to deny that. And Byrd joined the Klan because he was an "edgy teenager," and he left when he realized just how much poison they were...to his career, and to the nation as a whole:

Byrd became a supporter of civil rights, and he never denied the mistakes of his past. It was a regret that haunted him to his dying day. I don't know what Byrd mentored Clinton on, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't on how to be a white supremacist.
