LOL. You have no idea what you are talking about, as usual. You are conflating the noun definition and the verb definition.

Tarrifs are taxes or duties imposed on goods that are imported. They do not serve to set pricing of a good. Yes, these additional taxes can increase the cost of a good, but it does not SET THE COST of a good.

The purpose of a tariff is to increase the cost to consumers and make that choice, less of a choice. If you can't see that as a way of controlling what people do that's your problem.

The rationing going on around our country right now is a f**king disgrace.

The tarrifs just offset imports subsidies abs wage gaps. In other words it evens the field and allowed competition.

Price Fixing is NOT the same as adding taxes to increase the cost. If thats what you are saying, than any tax added to a good is a form of Price Fixing. Gas Taxes, Cigarette Taxes etc would all be price fixing under your inane logic.

Again Price Fixing is setting a price, a tariff does not act to set prices, it does increase cost but it doesn't SET the price.

"The rationing going on around our country right now is a f**king disgrace."

This has nothing to do with the actual supply of goods. We don't have shortages of food or water. We are seeing supply chain issues, not supply issues. We have more food in cold storage right now than we did any other recent year. The problem is people are panic buying things they don't need, and grocery store stock levels are replenished based on a JIT system (Just In Time). There are incredibly complex systems in place at grocery stores and their suppliers that track the sales of goods, these tracking numbers are used to predict future demand and therefore supply. When atypical demand surges occur, like now, the system needs time to adjust all the way through the supply chain. Unlike other countries, say Venezuela, we don't have a supply of goods issue, we have a supply chain problem. A much better problem to have, because it means we still have goods.

If we have a capitalistic society, supply and demand should regulate what goods are available. I don't believe that in a true free market it takes more than 3 weeks for businesses to get their act together and get peanut butter, toilet paper, pasta, bread, flour, the most basic of products, back on the shelves if it is sitting in warehouses somewhere. If it was based on, "just in time", it would be just in time. Not 3 weeks late! It is in their best interest to get the shelves stocked and sell what they have in their warehouses!

What difference does it make if taxes are added to products or if tariffs are added to products? Both have exactly the same affect, the consumer pays the added cost. Yes, a tax on gasoline makes people burn less gasoline, just like a tariff makes people buy less Chinese goods.

You guys are splitting hairs. Setting pricing, vs raising prices, tax vs tariff, all to make excuses. Sorry but it doesn't cut it!

It can't be denied, our President is determining what HE thinks consumers should be paying for things.

It can't be denied, our grocery store shelves that should be stocked with general, basic every day items, now look like they belong in a 3rd world country.

You are not very bright....

" I don't believe that in a true free market it takes more than 3 weeks for businesses to get their act together and get peanut butter, toilet paper, pasta, bread, flour, the most basic of products, back on the shelves if it is sitting in warehouses somewhere. the JUST IN TIME supply stock is based ON HISTORICAL TRENDS...not UNFORESEEN DEMAND....therefore when people PANIC BUY and continue to PANIC BUY there is going to be this issue.

"You guys are splitting hairs. Setting pricing, vs raising prices, tax vs tariff, all to make excuses. Sorry but it doesn't cut it!"

Again we see just how smart you are not. Words mean things. For instance the word "FIX" is defined as "fasten securely to a place or position" so PRICE FIX means to fasten the price to a position. That is not what tariffs do.

"It can't be denied, our grocery store shelves that should be stocked with general, basic every day items, now look like they belong in a 3rd world country."

False...3rd world countries don't have GOODS...WE HAVE GOODS.

You obviously read at an extremely low level. I said the stores are empty. But it's not because there are no goods. Thanks for circling back to the beginning of the discussion. Hint: the result won't change just because you decided to start over.

Cold storage of beef, pork, chicken and turkey totaled 2.23 billion pounds, up 3.2 percent from the same month last year and 7.7 percent higher than the five-year average. Growth of 15.0 percent and 9.1 percent for pork and chicken to 580.9 and 936.4 million pounds, respectively, are causing the increase. Beef and turkey were 481.0 and 233.1 million pounds, for December, down 2.9 percent and 23.0 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile in Venezuela, they are fighting each other for the dog running down the street.

Back off, shill!!!

Alright KF, you pay for play sucka!

Just kidding, as the great Vito Corleone said, it doesnt' concern me what a [person] does for a living.

Do you really think Biden would be able to get through a debate, without totally melting down, into an old, gibbering, demented, geezer? I doubt Trump would display any mercy, even if Uncle Joe reminded us all of our own dear grandfathers.
