Triggered? Sorry, man... But since the boomers were teenagers in the time the regular tape recorder I displayed was THE audio device... The cassette recorder actually came when the generation after the boomers got into audio devices... And trust me, the boomers I know took very much pride in buying such a tape recorder I showed, so your reply may actually have insulted some boomers for real. And save yourself the effort of writing me an angry letter. You have no reason to do so.

THE OLD SCHOOL BOOMER BOX | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

That device actually pre-dates the boomers. The boomers are the people born in the baby boom following WWII. The record player you show there, actually even predates the war.

(Further research even indicated that the device actually even predates WWI).

Well, I got that information from the boomers themselves. And then I mean the true boomers, those who were born during the baby boom. You see my parents are both boomers, and there's a lot about my parents I blame them for (and am still beyond furious about), but I still remember my old man telling me with pride how he saved money for a reel to reel tape recorder, as that was the item to have when he was a teenager. Not to mention that he was not the only boomer I know, as it's easy to guess that many friends of my parents, and thus people I know well too, are boomers as well. And I did hear stories from them as the reel to reel machines were not exactly easy to use. So I got my information first hand.

And for me the cassette recorder was my item I would carry with pride as a teen, and if you call me a boomer you'd be claiming my mother gave birth to me at the age of 3 max (she was actually 24 years old back then), so that evidence should suffice as evidence that I'm too young for that title.

Cheers Mr troll that's good to know

I'm not the one trolling. You are! Accept that you didn't have your facts straight, and don't be so desperate to prove otherwise. If you just accepted that from the start you would have saved yourself a lot of misery (and time).

Boomers were 8 tracks and records. Cassettes were Gen X.

Cassettes came before 8 tracks

Maybe technically.. but didn't the timeline of actual common usage (in America) basically go:

Records
4 tracks
8 tracks
Cassettes
CDs
iPods/mp3 players
?

Not that I remember. We were using Cassettes long before 8 tracks came on the scene.

Also, records and cassettes were still used after 8 tracks fell out of favor.

Ya I know people to this day who still occasionally use records..

Why did 8 tracks become popular post cassette tape though? People too lazy to flip the tape over for side B? Furthermore why did cassettes make a comeback and overtake 8 tracks??
1 up, 5y
Not sure. I know some people liked 8 tracks because they could use 4 tracks at a time for quadraphonic sound. People didn’t like 8 tracks because you couldn’t rewind them and sometimes switching to the next track of the loop happened in the middle of a song.

Umm..Because you feel like there is some reason/purpose for you in life, you don't know what it is, and making boob memes is probably not it...?
:P

Ok Boomer!
Well, I hate that line, but I only said it, as you appear to be waiting for that...

(Not to mention that boomers already pre-date the cassette recorder, as those are the folks born in the period 1947-1953 or so.... during the 'baby boom', hence the name 'baby boomer' shortened to 'boomer').
