You can't claim the moral high ground if you say it's okay because someone else does it too. And for the record, Trump didn't say anything about forcing himself on women. He says it's easier to do it because they all want money and fame. That's what he was referring to.
3 ups, 5y,

Wow. That's not even close to what he said. What he said was they let HIM do it because he's a celebrity. He said nothing about his victims allowing the assault because they want fame. Good grief, nice victim blaming to excuse Trump's behavior.

I know what he said. I wasn't quoting him. That still doesn't equal rape or assault brotha'. When two adults agree to engage in sexual relations and then one person regrets it later down the line, they don't get to just claim they were raped. That isn't how it works.
3 ups, 5y
Correct, you weren't quoting him, because what you said is NOT a quote:

"Trump didn't say anything about forcing himself on women. He says it's easier to do it because they all want money and fame. That's what he was referring to."

It's nothing at all remotely close to what he said.
3 ups, 5y,

He's not talking about that either. He's talking about walking right up to someone and grabbing her without permission, without a conversation, without warning.*And getting away with it* because he's famous. That's the key: getting away with it.

The same argument applies to your defense of Biden. Unlike Biden, there is no video of Trump getting handsy with little girls.

Just an audio recording of Trump boasting about walking up to women and grabbing them by their genitals. @@

I know he paid off a porn star (a pretty ugly one at that) to keep quiet about their affair, but it was consensual so rape wasn't a factor and neither was him forcing himself on her. Biden forces himself inappropriately on people, including children. And there's no ifs or buts about it.

As I said, I believe he had affairs. I do not believe any of his accusers he sexually harassed them or raped them. Just like Kavenaugh, being falsely accused of something to ruin his political career just because they don't like his views.

She was, and Kavanaugh was a big ol’ baby

Did you even watch their testimony?
[deleted]
3 ups, 5y,

No, she wasn't. At no point in time did her stories add up and her supposed witnesses kept saying there was no such events taking place. If there were truly "gang rapes" taking place on a weekly basis as she claims, it wouldn't take 30 plus years for it to come out. And how convenient she says something when he gets picked for Supreme Court.

And your claim he was a "big ol' baby" is just plain stupid. Who wouldn't get emotional after being accused of something so heinous that you know you haven't done? He's fit to be beaten for being so upset that some dumb c**t is trying to ruin his life over being picked for Supreme Court.

“gang rapes taking places on a weekly basis”

More things she didn’t say — not even close. She never alleged rape.

It’s clear you didn’t watch her testimony or really pay attention at all
[deleted]
2 ups, 5y
Actually, yes she did. Along with others who decided to lie about everything that supposedly took place but never did. No one could get their lies straight.
1 up, 5y
Thanks. Yeah, I figured you were thinking about the Avenatti client, she said something like that. Avenatti was clearly trying to cash in on this thing, it appears. Note that I have never said anything about her credibility.

There was a third woman who said Kavanaugh flashed his dick at a college party, I believe. She and Avenatti's client never testified in front of Congress, so as I sit here I don't have much of an opinion about them, other than anyone associated with Avenatti is probably tainted.

Neither of them have anything to do with Blasey-Ford.

Prove that Blasey-Ford ever even claimed that “gang rape“ happened

That was my mistake. It was Julie Sweaty-lick who claimed it happened. And the guy who represented her? The one and only Michael Avenatti. Wow, some real honest people in that little liar's club.

2 ups, 5y
Prove it didn't happen? I'm assuming that's what you mean. Bit no, no one can actually prove anything, which is why he was still voted in. You're the so called lawyer, you should know these things. You are innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around. That's how it works.
2 ups, 5y,

I did. She's a liar. And had Kavanaugh not shown emotion, you'd crucify him for that. Just happened to wait decades until he became a justice on the SCOTUS! Just happened to be a dye in the wool liberal! Follows a certain pattern, it does.
1 up, 5y
I chose to reserve judgment until seeing them both testify. And after? No question, I think he did it.

It’s the kind of thing anyone could believe a couple drunk high schoolers could have done in an upstairs bedroom 30 years ago.

Is an event like this disqualifying on its own, especially given the fact he’s lived an upstanding life ever since? I don’t think so, actually.

If he’d fessed up — or at least admitted that it was *possible* this happened given his high school drinking habits and he just didn’t remember — that would have exonerated him in my mind.

Instead: he whined, self-pitied, and categorically denied everything — and also benefitted from all the interference run by GOP Senators and right-wing pundits on his behalf.

You gotta handle issues like this delicately. Instead the GOP Senate bulldozed through and made a farce of the whole process just like they later did with impeachment.

I won’t be forgiving them for either hacked process any time soon.

Kavanaugh was a big ol’ baby?

And his reaction to such an accusation was supposed to be what?

You cry, have a hissy, and meme it like big ol’ baby whenever someone butthurts you by posting anything not agreement with your fuzzy widdle world.
Hate to imagine you with any basic IRL situtation, let alone one as grave.

More media matter talking points. Kavanaugh wasn't acting like a baby. If you're innocent you have to fight back. Better than bringing a walker in like Harvey.
1 up, 5y
Basic damned do/don't situation. Add that to she said/he said.
Fact is, we weren't there, so we don't know what really went down, but to suddenly get upset decades later, especially given the timing...

Oh, hate to say it, but that goes for Weinstein as well. The only difference is he had letters sent to him over years praising then ongoing relationships.

I dunno man... but not this man, not this

He looked like Glenn Beck up there, not a SCOTUS justice

If this were a lawsuit and my witness acted like he did on the stand, I’d have settled the damn case

But since Republicans had the votes and no shame, they pushed him through anyway

Winning!

"If this were a lawsuit and my witness acted like he did on the stand, I’d have settled the damn case"

You can drop the whole "I'm a lawyer" thing now. No one believes you.
1 up, 5y
Beck was never sobbing on his show while getting grilled about rape accusations.

You can say the same about Ford, and add to that the question of why did it take three decades for her to tear up over it.

We weren't there, so we're hardly in a position to call it either way.
But an accused not showing any emotion in response is suspect.
If Kavanaugh is like Beck, then tearing up is a constant thing he does. That's hardly an admission of guilt, the opposite, practically.

Trump likes to exaggerate his accomplishments... I think we can all agree on this...

Why then is "Grab 'em by the ____" treated as a Confession (or as you're implying 'rounding down')

- You even admit, via sarcasm, that Trump spins "things in the light most favorable to him." and if he were half the 'grabber' he's accused of being, he would see said 'encounters' as wholly consensual (in his mind at the very least) and as Famous as he was surely there'd be some kind of paper trail beyond the "But he attended Event X and his accuser was there. Here's the photo-op picture she took with him because he was famous." AFTER Trump claims to have never met the accuser (as a Celebrity who never met a camera he didn't like what are the odds he'd remember even a fraction of the people who took such pictures?)
0 ups, 5y
I’m not even following your train of thought honestly.

I won’t try to piece this together for you: just read the accounts, and tell me if you think there’s a there there or if they are all — literally all — making it up for fame and fortune or whatever.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/abcnews.go.com/amp/Politics/list-trumps-accusers-allegations-sexual-misconduct/story%3fid=51956410

https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2017/12/what-happened-to-trumps-16-sexual-misconduct-accusers.html

More sources available if you care.

It’s not that difficult for me to believe that a woman who was grabbed in a private area would be shocked, speechless, and choose not to “make a scene” of it at the time, which a self-regarding Trump would then interpret as implicit permission.

One or two such accounts wouldn’t mean a whole lot, perhaps. But when you’ve got over a dozen accusers AND Trump himself bragging about doing this very thing? Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

“Innocent until proven guilty” only gets so far. Everyone knew Weinstein was guilty but only in the past couple weeks was he finally convicted, and even then only on a couple counts (compared to over a hundred accusers).

Prosecuting sex crimes is tough and wrenching for the victim and all involved.
