the poorest states vote republican. And receive the most welfare and other federal aid.

Meaning the wealthiest states states vote democrat, and yet the wealthiest democrat states also have the worst homeless problems.

Your problem is you're confusing "poor states" with "states with the most poor people". They're not the same thing. You could have a state (say Wyoming, just for argument's sake) populated with 1 million people who all make $100,000 a year, which is not even remotely "poor", and in fact is quite wealthy by the average American's standards.

But compared to California, especially with all those democrat one-per-centers like Zuckerberg, Dorsey, and all the grand high mucky-mucks at google, Wyoming looks about as wealthy as Venezuela.

California has the 5th biggest economy in the world.

Look at states like Alabama, Mississippi and Arkansas and West Virginia. Poor. Red. And take more than they give in federal funds.

"California has the 5th biggest economy in the world."

Thank you for proving my point. 5th biggest economy in the world, and the biggest homeless problem in the United States.

"Look at states like Alabama, Mississippi and Arkansas and West Virginia. Poor. Red. And take more than they give in federal funds"

Don't try and pull that crap, we've already had this discussion and I proved you wrong. But since you've clearly forgotten, I'll copy-paste my reply to you last time you tried that argument:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Red states TAKE more in federal funds than they pay in." (quoting you)
Had to look into that, and I'm not seeing evidence that backs up the idea that it has anything to do with the states that get more than they put in being red states. Several red states are among the top tax-paying states, including Texas, North Dakota, and Nebraska.
On top of that, several blue states are among the /lowest tax/ paying states, aka they "TAKE more in federal funds than they pay in". This includes New Mexico, Maine, and Hawaii.
What I'm seeing is that the /lowest populated/ states tend to be the ones that get more than they put in, which only stands to reason. They deserve federal funding for certain things as much as any other state. That's part of why they joined the union, after all.
And guess what? New Mexico, Maine, and Hawaii are all among the lowest populated states.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Once again I say, as I've already said today, and as I said 3 months ago (when that copy-paste is from), stop confusing "poorest states" with "states with the most poor/homeless people". I'm beginning to think you're doing it deliberately as intentional propaganda.

You're the one denying the truth, so much so that you're even posting stuff that proves MY point. Thanks for that!

(If you still don't get it, the wallehub page you linked shows that a /blue/ state (New Mexico) takes the most federal funding over what it pays in, while a /red/ state (Kansas) takes the least.)

And while I'm not denying now, nor did I deny last time you lost this argument, that the /majority/ of states that "take more than they give" are red states, their political leaning has nothing to do with it. It's a matter of their /population size/.

How is this so hard for you to comprehend?

"Thank you for proving my point. 5th biggest economy in the world, and the biggest homeless problem in the United States."

Isn't that simply because of size? On a Percent basis ar they still bad? I must admit State demographics are not my forte
3 ups, 5y,

It's not just the a matter of whether it's bad on a per capita basis (it is), but also the fact that the supposedly richest state, the state that supposedly supports socialist programs and has the wealth to implement them, has the most homeless people (not to mention pretty much the worst public health crises building up), and yet is more interested in funneling funds to aid illegal immigrants and "refugees".

Come on dude. You’re saying low income areas have good voter turnout? If it’s true it’s not racist. Isn’t that what y’all say on the right?
2 ups, 5y,
1 reply
So if low income areas don’t have good voter turnout, why are Democrats so concerned about voter IDs having a negative impact on low income voters?
1 up, 5y
Because many poor people won’t have the documents or even the ability to GET a voter ID.

Why are so many conservatives against holding Election Day on the weekend? Or make it a National holiday?
1 up, 5y,

“many poor people won’t have the documents or even the ability to GET a voter ID.”

If they don’t have the documents, they can’t even register to vote. Or is that the whole idea?
1 up, 5y,
1 reply
Sure they can. Registering is one thing. In arizona you can register online. Voter ID cards are pointless and add s hurdle to voting.

Now - wanna take a crack at why conservatives don’t want Election Day made into a national holiday or done on a weekend or other wise make it easier for more people to vote?

A. If someone has proven they are a resident to get "food stamps, cash assistance and free medical coverage" then clearly they are a citizen, and an additional ID requiring more hoops to jump through is foolish and akin to the jim crow laws.

B. Guns kill people. So those rights are regulated as such. All RIGHTS are regulated. You'd prefer less regulation on firearms and more on voting. I wonder why?

None of their policies has ever helped the poor get out of poverty and some have made it worse.

Most don't. I know I surely do not. That support comes from corporatists on both sides, the left and right, Like McConnell, Pelosi, the Clintons, Trump, and others.

That's what they thought when they passed welfare. However, the way it is set up, it destroys the family unit and has caused generational poverty. This is one of the programs that has done more harm than good.

Prior to "the war on poverty" in 1964, 33% of black families lived in poverty and that number had been steadily declining since 1940. Single motherhood in black communities was 26%.

Today, almost 38% of black children in a single-parent household live in poverty. Single motherhood among blacks is at 76%.

However, only 8% of black families today, that have two parents in the household, live in poverty.

On that, my friend is one of the problems with laws that feel good, but do not do good.

Politicians pass laws that sound good and make them feel good, but they never look at the consequences.

The $15 minimum wage is another law that feels good but could have dire consequences and probably will not do what they think it will. CDP estimates a loss of over 1.3 million jobs. Not counting that some prices will also have to raise as well. Could be a net loss for the very people they think they are helping.

The plastic straw ban is another. It sounds and feels good. Until you realize that the U.S. contributes less than 1% of all the plastic found in the ocean, and straws make up a minuscule amount of that.

Carbon Taxes are the worst. Sounds good, feels good, but would have a devastating effect on the U.S. economy. Meanwhile, the US is one of the few countries already reducing their carbon output. Nothing would change globally even if the US reduced its carbon output to 0% without China, India, developing African nations, the EU, and others doing something as well. Last year China, India, and the EU all increased their carbon output far. far, more than we reduced ours.

For you, deliberately. Tax breaks help everyone who pays taxes. 46% of the country doesn't even pay taxes. If you don't pay taxes, you don't get a break. That is how it works.

I have no idea what Amazon paid, but I am pretty sure that what they paid was within the law.

I do know that local governments give tax breaks to businesses to help get more jobs into the community which helps low skilled workers get out of poverty.
