FUNNY HOW PEOPLE GIVE A PRESIDENT ALL THE CREDIT FOR THE ECONOMY | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
or view the GDP as an aggregate number that spreads like smooth cheese.

though it is a really strong bullwhip,so good on trump.enjoy buddy!

You are correct, the President doesn't deserve all the credit, but it is partially due to his policies.

As Far as GDP being a bad number for comparison, I could have used other numbers besides the GDP. For instance, unemployment Trump 4% vs Obama >7.6%, Real Household Income Trump +2.3% Obama -5%, Job openings Trump +4.2% Obama -1.1%.

you are either totally ignorant or a complete lying jerk... so sick of the BULLSHIT fake news you idiots and the KING IDIOT spew out your mouth every day, so liar or ignorant, which is it?

https://www.factcheck.org/2019/04/trumps-numbers-april-2019-update/

Employment — Total nonfarm employment grew by 5,121,000 during the president’s first 26 months in office, according to the most recent figures available from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

That continued an unbroken chain of monthly gains in total employment that started in October 2010.

The average monthly gain under Trump so far is 197,000 — compared with an average monthly gain of 217,000 during Obama’s second term.

Trump will have to pick up the pace if he is to fulfill his campaign boast that he will be “the greatest jobs president that God ever created.”

Well there is a little more analysis and context you could provide, but I am sure you don't want to. Lets have a look...

"We compared job growth by industry for the 27 months after Trump took office in January 2017 to President Obama’s last 27 months in office, using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Overall, Obama beats Trump — 5.5 million to 5.2 million.

But break the numbers down and something interesting emerges.

Under Trump, jobs in goods-producing industries — manufacturing, construction, mining — have been increasing at a much faster clip than when Joe Biden was vice president. These are the jobs Democrats are constantly promising that their policies will create and protect.

The data show that the economy created 1.2 million goods-producing jobs since Trump took office. That’s more than twice as many as were created in Obama’s last 27 months in office (455,000).

Look at manufacturing. In Obama’s last 27 months, the economy created 109,000 manufacturing jobs. It’s created 470,000 so far under Trump. Jobs in the durable goods manufacturing industry declined during this time under Obama. As did mining and logging jobs. They made solid gains under Trump."

So the economy, which is 70% consumer driven, lagged on that end due to prolonged reaction to the Great Recession (shellshocked consumers being such cheap bastards), and had started picking up - albeit slowly - in the latter years of what has now been a record decade long growth cycle?

Since those goods-producing economies are a direct consequence of growing demand and the resulting need to increase supply to meet it, how is Federal Goverment S-O-C-I-A-L-I-S-M-O (in Spanglish for the benefit of our Venezuelan friends that we are now suddenly supposed to love dearly) intervention at the Executive Office level responsible for that beautiful chunk of Capitalism in action at its laissez-faire-ish best?
3 ups, 6y,
1 reply
Cheap bastards? More poor broke bastards. The demand was low because the banks bled off a huge amount of wealth and only the wealthy had disposable income. The middle and working classes had none. I doubt it is a simple cause and effect relationship - the Executive branch has the ability to influence the multi-factored process in one direction or another.

I was being sarcastic, like pretending to blame their situation on them.

Although one thing that always strikes me as odd in any recession is how everyone suddenly realizes they're broke simultaneously.
From remodeling kitchens every 2 years, 2 SUVs to match, and dumping ol' Bringen at the pound because he didn't match the new sofa set, to suddenly being maxed out and unable to afford the mortgage which they had been for 5 years for the new subdivision.

Haa, it happens to all of us. Hard to detect it just read.

I was supposed to put *in joe pesci voice* or something like that, since it's the kind of goofy thing we say around here. The quip obviously would have made more sense that way.

The comparison shows Obama's last 27 months to Trump's first 27 months. By the last 27 months of Obama's term, the economy had been out of recession since June 2009.

Your excuse is not valid. If it made a comparison between Obama's first 27 months in office and Trump's first 27 months, that would be disingenuous.

But that's not what's its doing. And there is a clear pick up in the pace of the creation of manufacturing, construction, and goods producing jobs since Trump took office. It has nothing to do with people "being cheap asses".
1 up, 6y,

What excuse? What's not valid?

Ok, I'll play, how did the yugest billionaire in America create all those jobs in a way most un-socialistic and also non-consumer driven?

Maybe that is more misdirection than an outright excuse.

The analysis I posted has nothing to do with the early part of the recovery. It has to do with later part of the recovery. It compares Obama's last 27 months with Trump's first 27 months, which makes sense to compare.

The comparison of those two periods shows a marked increase in job activity in manufacturing, construction etc. The pro-business stance of the Trump Administration is a factor in this jump.

you missed a few things

despite unemployment being at its lowest under trumps administration, thats still 13088000 people without jobs.

jobs went up due to more businesses hiring people, not due to government intervention.
In fact, you could say that any and all intervention in the markets by the government has lead to a worse economy. i.e. the installation of corporatism, intellectual property, tariffs and regulations. all of these combined drive companies to bankruptcy or make it so they need to move overseas to make profit.

income is based on the market, not the government. The only exception is minimum wage, which actually also harms the poor in the markets.

The coming collapse aside, A country is not a business, a business exists to make profit. A country exists to raise the standard of living for and protect its citizens.

Yea 'one little anecdote' -

"This is the fifth year of low prices, basically, for crops," Hultman said. "I think time is just wearing us out."

To Brent Gloy of Grant, Nebraska, many farmers like him appear to be facing only bleak alternatives for planting.

"There's just not a lot people can do," Gloy said. "You're looking at late corn planting through part of the corn belt. They would normally go to soybeans. Man it's just a mess."
