Black cat pissed | LEAVE YOUR FILTHY GLOBALIST HANDS OFF JAPAN | image tagged in black cat pissed | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
You can literally leave your wallet on a bench in most cities and no one will take it. Pretty cool place.

Me neither unfortunately. Yep, even Koreans that have lived there for generations aren't considered proper Japanese. But I suppose that use to be the attitude of most European countries in the past as well.

Yeah, their big problem is how to fund the retirement of their ever aging population on a shrinking workforce.

Pssst, Japan: the solution is immigration.

They believe in keeping the Japanese "race" pure, and they are not the least bit apologetic about it. They would never support immigration of any reasonable scale.
Weird how the whole liberal world isn't losing their collective minds over that.

That is something that I could see myself respecting and sympathizing with.

Yeah, it's almost like there's much more to it than what you're describing.

of course--- they have a culture that is island-isolated and developed there for a dozen centuries or so. The intricacies of that could never be summed up i a sentence or two...

There's nothing wrong with immigration. But too much immigration cannot be supported, no matter how wealthy your country is. And you can't just let anyone in who wants it. You have to vet in order to continue a thriving economy. Don't vet out the bad and you get chaos. I would think someone as intelligent as you would understand this.

How's that working out for Germany?

The solution is a higher birth rate.

Gee, you'd think someone in Japan would have come up with that idea.

I guess when you stop being a militaristic country, this can happen but if the government doesn't want mass immigration, they need to focus on efforts to create an environment that promotes and rewards having children.

OR maybe you can't do much to raise birth rates and even if you could you're talking an 18 year lag on it impacting the workforce.

The government could certainly increase monetary rewards to encourage people to have children. Having said that, they also don't have much land mass so just trying to get to near replacement rate would be alright, I'd think.

Japan is pretty wealthy. I doubt the elderly will starve to death.

There are already incentives for having larger families. Regardless, every country in the world reports fitting into the pattern of declining birth rates during and after industrialization. People just don't get frisky because you pay them to.

Your solution doesn't work.

Got a little too late for that here in 1492.

During the last century many Japanese emigrated to South America. Japan has been trying to get their descendents to immigrate back and join the Japanese work force.

Would you, were you a Refugee, flee to Saudi Arabia if all places? Replace one totalitarian regime with another? Big improvement

Not refugees, but Muslim poor from all over the world go to Saudi Arabia. It has one of the highest immigration rates.
0 ups, 6y
Yes, but immigrants are not Refugees. The refugees I know, fled due to the Asad Regime, ISIS and the local Radical Islamist militants and the general war torne situation that they found themselves. They fled to Europe mostly because you have better chances in Italy or Croatia than you would in Saudi Arabia and because of our Humanitarian and Democratic ideals not shared by the Saudis.

Anyone ever show you Japan's population pyramid? They have a huge problem trying to fund the retirement for an aging population supported by an ever shrinking working age demographic.

Which, immigration would solve that problem for them, but they don't want to hear it, so they're still trying to figure out a solution.

They have the right -and civic obligation- to determine what immigrants they allow in.

And thus demonstrated what problems you get when you are too fussy about people moving in.
