The answer is simple: shut down the electric grid. The largest source of CO2 (in the US, according to the Executive Summary of the report on Climate Change, EPA.gov) is electricity generation.

But no one wants to do that. Instead, let's shame everyone into spending money to make certain people rich by selling you upgrades and improvements you don't need. Let's convert a billion gas automobiles to electric cars, that we charge by coal fired electrical plants. Let's use electricity to go on the internet and bitch about how other people are ruining the environment because they're not cool like us.

Personally I think our government should take oil and gas subsidies and give them to renewable energy industries, but we shouldn't make it so our economy gets worse by forcing onto renewables.

As for air pollution, don't worry,we will soon be as competitively polluted as places with far less air quality regulation-Trump has been busily undoing regulations designed to reduce emissions from industrial sites,particularly anything that might interfere with the extraction or use of fossil fuels.
That's why Trump fast tracked the Dakota Pipeline despite residents inexplicable desire to NOT drink fracking solvents.
Trump also had his oil shill buddy Pruitt close down the EPA websites pages on the dangers of fracking.

The air quality in the U.S. is better than most industrialized nations and has been improving every year.

BTW, this was due mainly to using fracked natural gas to replace coal.

Liberal logic

It's not really much of an excuse. It's like complaining about being volunteered into running the lemonade stand when the cool kids are smoking crack.

To some extent that is correct.

However, the U.S. is already reducing our CO2 levels more than any other country in the world. If we were to implement the Green New Deal as proposed to obtain net zero, it would devastate our economy and at the same time have very little if any impact on global warming.

Meanwhile, China and India have already officially announced that they will be increasing not reducing their carbon emissions till around 2030 at which time it will level off. The effect would be, that our economy would shrink and they would become the worlds, global leaders.

We need to find technological solutions that do not inhibit economic growth, and the green New Deal is not that solution.

Actually, one way to look at it is that China is BETTER than we are,as we generate a third of greenhouse gases by some estimates-the same as China,yet have four times less citizens.
This means that the average Chinese citizen consumes far less fossil fuel.
As for air pollution most Asian countries don't have the antismoking regulations that we do.
With such a huge population, & everyone smoking(even babies!)- what sort of air quality could be expected?
Asia is where we were pre 1970s.
But don't worry,the corporate rule in America will soon make every industrialists bitter little heart happy.
We'll all be suffocating, but a few shareholders will be happy in their filtered bunkers!
