The Dems wasted 6 billion dollars. Trump is going to get the Wall anyway, they were just being petty at Federal employees expenses.

On two separate occasions bills were presented to congress that would pay federal workers through the shutdown, no strings attached. Republicans voted unanimously in favor of both bills. All but a handful of Democrats voted against the bills for no reason other than it didn't fit the narrative they were having the media put out.

As soon as the cost of the government was higher than the cost of the wall Trump put an end to it.

It's one thing to say the Dems won't work with Trump, it's another to prove it. Trump just proved how insane the Dems have become.

Abbott said he'd like to build the wall but he wants the government to reimburse the state. Money is money. He's not going to do it for free if he knows it's something the Federal Government will pay for.

Hidalgo county neighbors my county. They have some of the most corrupt law enforcement in the country. I bet he doesn't want a wall. Without drugs coming in that's going to cut down on his bribe money.

Trump only wanted 240 miles of barriers. The democrats voted yes to 360 miles of barriers before Trump was president.

If Trump laid out an actual plan with facts and actual figures the Dems MIGHT be inclined to negotiate. He always moves the goal posts. They got tired of it and called his bluff. He should try to be the deal maker he claims to be and SELL it. He's not selling it.

Why is border security only a GOP concern?

The same Dems who approved funding for border structures in the past are now against it. Why? Simply because they don’t want Trump to have. Perceived win. Just shows they don’t care about what’s right or good for the country. They’re just concerned about power.

Both parties are at fault: the dems for refusing to secure the border purely because they hate the guy who wants to do it and Trump for thinking that it would actually work with a dem house and the newest voter being against him and for shutting down the government over not getting what he wanted.

It would be fair to say the Dems refused to give Trump money for the wall.. but saying the Dems are "refusing to secure the border" seems misleading if not simply false. As far as I know they were/are willing to provide billions for "border security".. just nothing for the wall. And hating Trump could be a reason.. but the fact that the majority of drugs and undocumented immigrants coming in are using legal points of entry could also be a reason. Trump repeatedly saying Mexico would pay for it could also be a reason. The number of illegals coming in vs going out being net zero could also be a reason. But I'm sure if he doesn't get his way he'll declare America's 10 year record low number of illegals an emergency anyway to get it. Idk.. I kinda thought he would've had a showdown about it with Mexico when he renegotiated NAFTA.. but that didn't happen.
