How so? Egypt was a Roman province from 30 B.C. to 641 A.D.

https://www.biblestudytools.com/bible-study/topical-studies/did-a-census-really-bring-joseph-and-mary-to-bethlehem.html

I'm not saying this is definitive, but it does provide an answer to your question.

Is Quirinius the same person as Cyrenius? And is taxing the same as a census? My Nook came preloaded with a KJ bible. Luke 2:1 is written as

"1. And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

2. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria)"

Add to it the fact that no historian recorded the slaughter of all Hebrew males under the age of two when Joseph supposedly fled to Egypt (that event would be recorded somewhere other than The Goatherder’s Guide to the Universe), or the earthquake that happened when Jeebus was crucified, or the dead coming out of their tombs fully alive when Jeebus was crucified, or the “Star in the East” ... that was somehow seen by astrologers (the Wise Men) FROM the East ... the geography makes no sense.

Except for the records of these events that were compiled into the Bible.

Funny how people pick and choose which historical records they believe are valid based on whether or not it supports their bias.

The religious texts in the bible include historical events. Do you believe every event that happened thousands of years ago was documented in multiple places and they all survived? Because the texts of the bible were considered sacred, they were preserved and copied. Because of human error many of the texts have lost their original contexts. But that doesn't make them all false.

There are many Biblical books with direct historical ties. As some examples:
Both Chronicles
1 Kings
1-3 Maccabees
The Books of Esther, Ruth, and Judith
Etc, etc.

I am NOT defending the tales in the bible.

My point is that leftist say Jesus was a refugee to support their open borders BS. IF Jesus did go from Judea to Egypt it was not as a refugee but as a documented subject of the Roman Empire. So using Jesus as an example only goes against their point.

It was. Egypt was part of the Roman Empire from 30 B.C. until 641 A.D. well within the time of Jesus.
