DNA evidence was a new thing 30 years ago - lots of mistakes were made. New York crime was also way worse so it's natural to get frustrated when perceived rapists go free. In all honesty, though, I don't think that what he said in the 70s or in a book or on Twitter maters all that much. He's still an asshole, but I think that the specific kind of asshole that he is is completely up to interpretation. If you love him, then good for you-- you've just made the best out of him being president. I, quite personally, don't like him, but I will not continue to Butch about the fact that he's president due to the fact that: A. It's too late to change that,
B. The environment is still slowly dying at the same speed, and C. The people who I care about are still safe and happy.
