Right, you can argue that race doesn't exist, but I believe thinking that people can be divided into races and qualitatively evaluated accordingly is the very thing that denotes racism, so maybe the word does have some merit...
No there are different races if you say there is only one race then there is no such thing as biological sex people are different depending on where they came from
Race, as the word is typically used, doesn't have as much merit as people seem to assume. It's categorizing people based on traits that are immediately obvious or dubbed socially significant. It's an arbitrary system based on mostly superficial traits, which is not as accurate to genetic relationships as people seem to assume.
I think at this point people are just using the word 'racist' out of habit. The appropriate word, if it even exists, is probably 'ethnicist'.

Fair points. I do believe in ethnicities and different cultures, which is a beautiful thing...yeah 'racist' is just used out of habit now, i guess. But I just thought 'races' is a bit divisive: we're all human.

...just like black or white: they are used out of habit now, when actually nobody is so. It's just different amounts of melanin (pigment) in the skin. It's a kinda superficial way to label people, in my opinion, but it's generally considered normal in society.
