They can have all the nukes they want. If they try to use it on us they know we will unleash everything we have in the few minutes left. Plus the fallout pollution will likely cover the whole world, even if we don't fire ours off. The dust clouds from our destruction alone combined with massive amounts of radioactivity will destroy them even if they prevent us from firing.

All that aside, if standard rifles are so obsolete why are recruits still required to pass a marksman test during basic? And why are troops still using guns?

Government tyranny is not the only threat that citizens must protect themselves from.

You're right, no one can win a pitched battle against the US. But the US can't just blow a homegrown insurgency to bits because it'll be mixed in with the very population they're governing. Even if the government was WILLING to commit mass genocide they still couldn't because they NEED those people to grow their food and run their factories.

This is the whole reason the US could never fully squash things in Iraq OR Afghanistan. And unlike with those countries, it's not practically POSSIBLE to throw out the rules of war, because the government still needs people to govern.

Those weren't insurgenicies. And the Confederacy insurgency got squashed regardless of what happened in Korea or Panama.

Yes they can choose. We're talking about words here, just so we're clear. Words can be ignored, deflected, reused against bullies etc, there are tons of ways to protect ourselves from words and depression. Depression itself is not an excuse for suicide, it's only a cause of suicide. As long as people's life is not directly threatened, as long as people have a way to fight or run away from the situation somehow, they can choose. Suicide is an option only when you know you'll die soon no matter what you'll do. Otherwise, there're always other options.

Anyway.

If you want to say that, then we need to teach how to do that. School now-in-days tells bullies to not bully. "swiper no swiping" you may say. We should be teaching self-defense.

Well, I agree on that one. Self-defense to defend oneself or someone else and counterattack, right. But there is also a great need of teaching self-awareness (and not-self-awareness too) as soon as possible so people learn how to prevent or deal with all kind of depression, anxiety, and misappropriated aggressiveness (and other negative / destructive feelings they may submit to later in life), each in their own way. We need to make bullies (of all kind) an exception, while today it's more of a rule (and while people have to accept that rule and have an appropriate answer, they go with the wrong and destructive feelings cause that's what works in this unhealthy environment.

So anyway, yeah. Education.
