In 1992, I ran an Import repair shop and parts store. The owners wife had a 1979 Toyota Corona. We did all the services on it. Man, that was a great car. before I was hired there I didn't think much of Toyota's because I was an American car guy...still am, Mopar guy. BUT, I got a healthy respect for Toy's. We had many come into our shop and was it was usually maintenance...not repairs. Those old Toyota's were tough. I've been in the auto industry most of my life now and I'll tell you this...the best 4 cylinder motor ever built was the Toyota 22R. The best 6 cylinder? well, the Mopar slant 6...the best 8 cylinder? The Mopar 318. Biased? No. Based on facts and evidence. Chrysler built many 4 cylinders but Toyota built the best. Oh..you Chevy fans...don't even try. As a parts and service guy I LOVED Chevy's. They kept my kids fed and clothed because they broke down so often. If Chevy's didn't break down so often I probably couldn't have kept a job.
