Can you tell me where people get this crap, because its NOT true. It may be subsidised at the same rate as any other medication, as is birth control.

Yes. It's insanity to suggest that a person insulting another person's looks but calling himself a ninja probably has self esteem issues related to his appearance.

Slightly off topic, but why does everone call them obama phones? The free cell phones are an extension of the lifeline program (which predates Obama by a lot).
1 up, 7y,
1 reply

Because before Obama made that a thing, the lifeline only made all phones capable of calling 911. But how can you call 911 if you don't have a phone?

The Obamaphones also make it easier to get a job. I had a helluva time finding a job, and it would have been MUCH harder to get a job without it.
1 up, 7y
In California (maybe it was different in other states) the lifeline program allowed for basic service (local only). The purpose as i understood it was for job hunting and so the school could contact parents in the event of an emergency.
Given increasing demands on contactability, extending the service to cell phones makes sense. There should be better accountability though. Even many if the people pushing the phones are unaware that it is supposed to be limmited to one per household, even though it says so on the flyer.

If a man's prescription drug plan can cover viagra why shouldn't a woman's cover prescription birth control?
7 ups, 7y,

Viagra and birth control serve two
very different purposes, and each
one has its own considerations. Viagra, at a minimum, treats an actual dysfunction, while
birth control does not. Viagra fixes a broken
system, while birth control breaks a
working system.

Birth control alleviates painful menstruation for young girls who don't need to spend their younger years dealing with monthly chronic pain and fighting heavy menstrual flow. You could say that's a dysfunction. Why should young girls have to suffer when there is an easy fix that doesn't involve pain killers or muscle relaxers?

There are better solutions for painful menstruation then masking it with a class 1 carcinogen in 2017. Studies show women who were on BCP not only have a harder time conceiving but are more susceptible to breast cancer with prolonged use.
Polycystic ovaries and endometriosis are treatable without BCP and they might not even be the solution but another reason.

Like what? Just curious.... Everything I've seen says the risks are minimal. Of course, we're surrounded by things that cause cancer these days: aspartame in diet drinks, the air in Southern California....

Have you considered the question of "Why should they have sex in the first place, if they are not ready to have a kid?" Be prepared, is all I'm saying. (I'm 15 and know the consequences of having sex at an early age, so I'm waiting till after I am married to do it, after college sometime.)

If birth control "broke" a system doctors wouldn't prescribe it. First do no harm. A woman's system egests one egg per month. Birth control just allows the system to kick out the same egg even if it has been infected with sperm.

First do no harm , said no doctor performing abortions.
The perfectly working system of a woman's fertility is broken when BCP is taken. If it wasn't taken she would naturally conceive because her system hasn't been tampered with or broken.

Your feelings about abortion have nothing to do with the medical aspect of the procedure. And we were talking about birth control and whether it should be covered by a prescription medicine insurance plan. Save the zealotry for the amen sisters. IDGAF.

Objective facts aren't subjective. "First do no harm" you might want to rethink using that line with today's medicine and "doctors " where Transabled people are having limbs surgically removed because they "feel" disabled.
I brought it back to the BCP topic after that one line, don't play yourself. Low energy rebuttals I ain't got time for that.

OK Barney-style for the children. Birth control is a prescription medicine. A prescription medication plan is intended to cover those. If you don't like it don't grow a va**na and you won't be forced to take it.

Or instead of electing to take a class 1 carcinogen that increases your risk in having breast and ovarian cancer while with prolonged use and can permanently make you infertile, get alternative treatments.
If the consequences are worse than the the ailment, the "medicine " or BCP isn't the best solution. Women deserve better than that.

Or if a patient and doctor agree on a treatment plan why don't you sit down and shut up and mind your own damn business. Approved medicines prescribed by licensed doctors to informed patients don't require any input from you whatsoever. You sound like a Vaxxer. Go worry about something else.

Many republicans vote against allowing government funds to cover contraception. (Planned Parenthood, ACA exemptions, religious exemptions for certain employers) It's what the original post is referring to.

Viagara creates people, while birth control prevents them from being created, two totally different things. A more comparable thing would be condoms, which, geuss what, are not covered by the government.

Viagra creates boners. What you do with it is up to you. My point remains, both are prescription drugs and should be covered by whatever insurance plan the patient is covered by. It's simple.

Yes. Because managing a public health system combined with teen and poverty birth rates impacting food and welfare assistance programs and a host of other local public services is as simple as going to the gas station and spending $5.99. You've done it. You single handedly saved the US economy with a pack of rubbers.

Some people are poor. Our government has programs to help poor people. One of them is medical insurance. Under a program like that birth control saves taxpayers money. The only objections to that are usually religious. Our country ain't got time for that.

I'm confused. So it saves taxpayers money to pay for somebody else's subscription when they could get the same effect for 5.99 at a gas station.
