What one medical device or prescription information packet informed a physician to prescribe and use is fine till it harms a patient without any information to the physicians. Let's take a new pill sized health monitor they are always trying to push into elderly to help with diagnostic work for strokes and heart problems. They fail to inform the patient that the device is permanent. Then when these devices move or embed into the wall of the heart, the information from the device company is left to the doctor to decide what to do next. So when you go to sue med tronic for failure to warn, the law protects both doctors and the device manufacturers. And for some weird reason medical devices are classified as prescriptions. Yet some physicians fail to educate patients on the prescription or devices they recommend. I think it boils down to a very greedy American healthcare system. Sure it's hard to trust a doctor but if my pregnant wife was going to die I would want them to do everything they could to save her first, and secondly try to save the pregnancy.
