Salvation: When I Die, How Can I Know For Sure That I Will Be Saved So I Can Be With God For Eternity Instead of Cutoff From Him; Ending Up In Hell? 1. I must understand and admit my spiritual need. 2. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ of the Bible and accept the fact that He died on the cross to pay for my sins; He took the death penalty in my place. 3. Receive Him as Savior. God is holy and I am not. He is just so He demands punishment for my sins. I’m in a heap of trouble and can’t undo it myself. I can’t earn it because no work by me can attain it. Praise God that He was gracious to allow His Son to take the punishment in my place and I believe in that. I am trusting by faith in the fact that He did that work for me. That’s what it means to receive Christ as your Savior. If you believe this, you have Christ as your eternal Savior. And it can’t be lost. How can that which is eternal, become not-eternal? DO YOU KNOW A CHRISTIAN’S SINS HAVE BEEN “OBLITERATED?” This is cool! Not only can Christians relax in total peace because God has cleansed us of all sin, but when God says He will remember our sins no more, the Hebrew word used is, "obliterated." Our sins have been eradicated out of existence. Forgetting them was enough for God, so, praise God, there is nothing left of them!! With that in mind, in Philippians, Paul says to look at it this way: "I 'forget' what lies behind and run swiftly toward what's ahead.”; What was ahead for Paul, and is for us, are rewards to lay at Jesus’ feet. Paul strove heavenward at the task Christ had for Him. "Forget" in Greek is "oblivion." There it is again! God says He obliterates any memory of our sins and Paul lets us know that means we are not to dwell, for even one moment, on past sins. That is absolutely awesome!! Whether your sin happened a year ago or one minute before now, for Christians, that sin has been expunged from all memory. It's been eliminated, exterminated, and annihilated. Why? That's what God's done for us because he loves us and so that we can focus on helping others come to heaven with us.
