[3 of 3] Paul coaches Timothy here in 2 Timothy 4:"Correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear." While Wicca witchcraft is being promoted worldwide, Pastors won’t warn against it. Notice that the problem is not just the hireling shepherds who won’t preach the Word and thus demonstrate that they do not give a rip about their congregations. It’s also about those hiring all these sell-out pastors? The people in the pews do that! So, even if a pastor is faithful to preach the whole Word, Churches don’t want that! They won't hire a man of God like that and if they do hire a guy who later gets corrected, rebuked, and convicted by God to start preaching the whole Word, those in that Church will often fire him! I have many such stories. That said, a preacher who is not giving God's Word still has to keep the show going so what does he talk about? Here's what Paul told Timothy about the future preaching we’d see in these last days:"They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But [Timothy,] keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry." Pastors are to preach the Word and share the gospel. It is not one OR the other. A pastor is not to make excuses, claiming he doesn't have the gift for either one or the other. We are to preach the Word and evangelize. Those are not mutually-exclusive tasks. Pastors are not to exclude either of those directives that have come from God. And the reason a pastor preaches the Word is so the Church
