I live in a bad neighborhood. Stores are robbed and people are mugged all the time within blocks of my apartment. I myself have been mugged three times. So answer me this: If you are at gun/knife point in an alley or store or wherever, and you reach for your own weapon, who do you think is going to get the first shot off?
The right to bear arms mran you have thr right to attempt to preserve your own life, liberty, and property. It is not a gaurantee you shall succeed in that . If would choose to diminish your chances thats your call, but you would take away the right of others being able to defend themselves because you are not confident in your ability to defend yourself is ridiculous. Secondly those who argue healthcare is a right never try to convince the people of that to elect representatives who would amend the constitution to include it as one. These are the same people who would love to curtail the second amendment which is an actually recognized right but of course again don't try to go through the legal process of amending the constitution.
I have seen guns in action and they do work. I am not a fan because of the reason stated above. Don't believe that the guns kill people, the people do. And that can (theoretically) be helped by better background checks. Does that infringe the Second Amendment?
I actually see what you are saying, too. But I think you would have a harder time of convincing people to pay for a sporty hunting rifle than free healthcare.
Just for the sake of fun...let's make healthcare an actual right, and see how many laws policies and agencies pop up dictating what you can and cannot eat and do or participate in. I'm thinking Bloomberg on steroids.
Many, I'd assume, and could those agencies create jobs? And if people monitor what you should/shouldn't eat, could it bring obesity and other diseases down?
Wow!!! You're willing to let the government dictate to you what you eat and when for the sake of creating bureaucratic jobs and control what others do with their bodies??? I seriously would not want to live in your world. I don't mean that to be hateful, but I can't think of a more miserable place.
For better or for worse, I try to have faith in the government. If we don't it'll result in a political shit show like the one we're in now, where there are several chaos candidates all vying for votes. In retrospect, food monitoring DOES sound like a very sketchy idea though.
I'm with you that there are chaos candidates creating a shit-show! However, I do think that is healthy as it hold in contrast more viable candidates. I do suspect that the show will loose its luster as reality will set in closer to the election. I read 1984 for the first time in 1984 when I was 22. I remember thinking how far-fetched it all seemed, now 32 years later what seemed ridiculous then is life today or dangerously close to it. It concerns me that so many are willing to give up their ability to be responsible for themselves because others CHOOSE not to. I can think of a lot of things the government does now, I cannot think of one thing though that is a model for anything outside of government.
The problem with all of these varieties of candidates (and chaos candidates) is that most of them suck. I'm with you I hope things settle down later so we can actually see their motives.
Can I have a M72 LAW, a SAW, an AR-15, a Colt M1911, a Dragonov, a makarov, and as much ammo as I can get for them, preferably an entire armory's worth. Oh, by the way, I would like it all by next Thursday. Have a nice day.
LEFTIST SAY HEALTHCARE IS A RIGHT SO THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD PROVIDE IT FOR FREE; SINCE I HAVE THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS SHOULDN'T LEFTISTS SUPPORT GIVING ME FREE GUNS?
