Bond yields and the national debt should be in the headlines, but they are not. This is the affordability crisis. It was created by both parties. The insane solution of the Democrats is to increase government spending. Also insane is President Trumps promise to give everyone $5,000 if Republicans win the elections. How is that even legal?

The real purpose of the $5000 is to remind voters which party would give them the money if they are in power. The Democrats straight up said no and later voted against making insider trading illegal again for legislators.

That is the one thing that bugs me about Trump. He is really good on the economy everywhere else but when it comes to spending he just as bad as Democrats are.

I think the last president who cared about the national debt was Reagan. Everyone after Reagan has been spending us into oblivion.

Reagan was the first to crack a trillion dollar deficit. His spending practices were so bad, he actually caused not one but two recessions during his presidency. He took credit for the fall of the USSR (even though it happened in 1991) because he outspent them with military spending, which at the time was 50% of the budget.

While slashing budgets and agencies, he more than made up for that by hiring federal workers so they could spend us out of the recession.
