which is worse, suffering for years and getting the surgery OR suffering for years and never getting the surgery because you can't afford it  OR suffering for years and having your life ruined because you can't afford the payments on your medical debt because you can't declare bankruptcy on medical debt?

Maybe you need to talk with Canadians and Brits about that. Like the 5 I spoke with at St Francis hospital in Charleston who borrowed money and paid out of pocket for hip and knee surgery after waiting 5 years back home.
