I think there needs to be a competency test to be able to vote. If you don't understand the Constitution then you don't vote.

I think that should also be a model for other things, use common sense to set rules. If you are morbidly obese you do not qualify for food stamps. If you were born with a p**is, you do not play on a female sport team, I could do this all day, but I don't want the trolls to blow up your thread.

I believe in a safety net, but it should be more like a G-string than a hammock, just barely covering. It gives a person an incentive to get to work.

There should be certain restrictions to what can be bought with food stamps, I was standing behind an overly obese couple in line who had carts filled with chips, ice cream, cookies, pop, nothing considered healthy like (gasp) vegetables, and they paid for it all with (drumroll please) an EBT card.

A max of 10% should be allowed for "dessert" items, and only low fat high calorie foods should be allowed to be bought with the majority of it. But the government doesn't want that, they want as many people dependent on them as possible.

The safety net should be work-fare not welfare. If you lost you're job or you let some Democrat tell you that the minimum wage is supposed to be a living wage and you can made ends meet, then here's a shovel or a hammer. Go donate your work to some building project until you can put yourself in better circumstances. Then and only then will the government give you assistance.

It should ALWAYS be the responsibility of the person to get the knowledge, skill and experience to earn a better income. It is NEVER the responsibility of the tax payer to just give able-bodied people money to sit on their butts and do nothing.

If a person is physically or mentally incapable of working (and the rules on that should be set in stone and never applied to people who could work but refuse to) then they should get assistance but only for as long as they are physically or mentally incapable.

I agree workfare is a better option, it gets people used to the idea of getting up on time, being at a designated place on time and earning thier keep. I dont care if thats being on a work crew cleaning up litter, but the dems would be right there to call it "degrading" and "slave labor".

And of course that could only be men, most women on welfare have 9 kids with 6-7 different daddies and she'd be right there to sniffle for the cameras asking who's gonna take care of her kids while she's picking up trash.

But it's gotta start somewhere and to me one small baby step would be saying "you've already got your potato chip allowance for the month, sorry, no more Frito-Lays for you".

They could always get a potato, slice it real thin, fry it in oil and salt it, but that would be too much "work" of course.

I wonder if ebt is another reason for inflation of food over the years/decades. For quite awhile two or three shopping carts of all sorts of food could be bought for $20-$40. But as more and more people got onto ebt/food stamps the prices seem to have gone up.

Even though prices have gone down under Trump we're still not at the point of the old days and in some places $20 may still buy three or four products. Sure it's easy to blame the usual suspects and conditions but what about ebt/food stamps. Do companies that make the food that people buy actually get the money they're promised through ebt/food stamps along with the grocery store or is there another type of fraud and embezzlement going on besides the obvious scams about ebt?

Yeah, EBT is responsible for Trumpflation. They just snuck it in in 2020 just to make him look bad.
That's called sarcasm

As much as what people on it may seem to receive, when you break it down per day, there's a reason why they're living off of cans of Chef Boyardee. Which they stocked up on when it was on sale. And not even that cuts it, with pantries and soup kitchens used to supplement what they get.

Also you're describing those smaller brands that have better quality but all taste the same

Or if you're a convicted felon with a history of bankruptcy and fraud and a sex offender you shouldn't be allowed to be president. Oops there goes pedotrump

No one says people are too incompetent to get an id to vote
1 up, 1mo
Not in those words. But it is very much implied. There are so many things we need a photo ID for but to vote all of the sudden it's racist, sexist and everything else???? Why???? Is it because blacks and women are incompetent? Seriously. Why is it racist? Why is it sexist? Why???
0 ups, 1mo
So, in your quest to violate the 24th Amendment, you've gone from "liberals say that Black people are too stoopid to vote!!!" to "stoopid people shouldn't vote!!!!"

Weird flex, but okay.

Buuuuuuuut it's still unconstitutional.
