I believe in a safety net, but it should be more like a G-string than a hammock, just barely covering. It gives a person an incentive to get to work.
There should be certain restrictions to what can be bought with food stamps, I was standing behind an overly obese couple in line who had carts filled with chips, ice cream, cookies, pop, nothing considered healthy like (gasp) vegetables, and they paid for it all with (drumroll please) an EBT card.
A max of 10% should be allowed for "dessert" items, and only low fat high calorie foods should be allowed to be bought with the majority of it. But the government doesn't want that, they want as many people dependent on them as possible.
