An old friend of mine I know through music, who was an economical Communist like I was 25 years earlier, became a Trumper when The Daily Show revealed in 2015 that Hillary pushed out his candidate Bernie who was becoming pretty popular.
He generally told me to just check out my TDS claims on my own... (he didn't say TDS, only many years later I learned the description for a tendency even my rightwing brother eventually got sold on during Trump's most successful term.
When he first liked Trump, I was too TDS'ed, but I've shown him the info that doesn't get published by other than Forbes, House testimonies, CSPAN or undercover video.

We were born of original sin but that does not make a newborn a sinner. That title is earned through life as we commit sin. Does a newborn baby who dies in some way go straight to hell because they hadn't accepted Jesus as thier personal savior yet? Do they even know who Jesus is yet?

Well, I dont believe that, I'm not a bible literalist. I believe the bible is full of allegory's designed to make a point, was Jonah really in the belly of a whale for 3 days, or could that be any situation a person finds themselves in where a minute before they were in control of things and then the next they know they are completely out of control and completely dependent on God.

That could be adrift in a life raft after a boat sinks, snuck in a snow drift after your car spins out, surviving in the woods after a plane crash.

Put it another way, I made a Christians head spin one day as I told them that, and explained how in my view the "snake" that tempted Eve was attached to Adam, and the "forbidden fruit" he was not supposed to eat was between her legs. Makes sense to me.

The Bible itself is full of giant allegories and a TON of metaphors so really your interpretation of it might be correct but since everything thinks different and reads different who knows

The main thing is I believe in Jesus and think his message has been perverted through the years, he's presented to everyone as Capt. Comedown and "you're not allowed to do that, you're not allowed to do that either, and that's a sin, and that'll get you hell" whereas the devil comes at us with "if it feels good, do it", which is a hard pitch to walk away from.

I tell people in my circle they have to start at the end and work thier way backward and ask themselves the question of questions: "Did Jesus come back from the dead or didn't he?" because if he did, we'd better be following him. If he didn't then it was just a big morality tale.

Personally myself I don’t believe and remain unconvinced but yes people need to start and ask questions following blindly and believing your way is the only way is a very deadly combo

I believe God comes to all of us in his own way and own time, I understand the non belief theres too much pain and hurt in this world to believe theres a God who loves us.

Personal pride is like a wall we build between us and God, we walk around and say "I went to school, I got the job, I got the money, I got the wife, I got the stuff", each one of those "I's" are like a brick we're laying down building a wall between us and God and creating a rat maze of our own making we're then trapped in.

One day we say "I got all the stuff and feel secure, and now I think I'll go looking for God and I agree I will worship him, but only if he agrees with me". It doesnt work that way, the wall has to come down first, it did for me.

But I do try to stay open to other points of view I dont think the republicans are right about every issue and I dont think the dems are wrong about everything, lately I've just been tired of being blamed for the ills of all people just for the crime of having been born white.
