No laws work, that's why they're laws. Laws are not temporary. You don't make something illegal for a while till everybody gets used to the idea that it's bad, and then suspend the law because from then on everybody's going to obey even if it isn't the law anymore.

Murder is illegal because people keep murdering people, not because they're going to stop one day.

Rape is illegal because people keep raping people, not because they're going to stop one day.

Using narcotic drugs is illegal because people keep abusing drugs, not because they're going to stop one day.

Speeding on roadways is illegal because people keep speeding on roadways and causing accidents, not because people are going to stop one day.

Hit and runs are illegal because people keep hitting and running, not because they're going to stop one day.

Robbing from little old ladies is illegal because people keep robbing from little old ladies, not because they're going to stop one day.

Alaska has barely any gun violence because they let people carry whatever guns they want. Explain that

Lol no it's not? I've lived in Alaska before for 3 years. And now I'm living in the actual state that has the most violent crime, new mexico. Alaska has always been pretty peaceful.
