No laws work, that's why they're laws. Laws are not temporary. You don't make something illegal for a while till everybody gets used to the idea that it's bad, and then suspend the law because from then on everybody's going to obey even if it isn't the law anymore.

You fail to understand the purpose of laws, so let me explain it to you. Laws exist for two reasons: first, to set standards as to what conduct is unacceptable in society, and second, to give the government the legal authority to punish the offenders who break this standard of conduct. Laws are NOT meant to stop an activity, but rather to serve as encouragement for society to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner or suffer the consequences. And since criminals don't obey laws, ALL crime in ANY form will NEVER go away. That's the reason why gun control laws don't work, have never worked, and will never work.
