The Tax Policy Center reports that about 40% of U.S. households, or roughly 76 million tax units, will owe no federal income tax in 2025. Most of these households earn less than $75,000 annually, with many benefiting from refundable tax credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit, which can reduce tax liability to below zero.

Their claim is misleading and borders on an outright lie

Illegals have devised a number of ways to avoid this. After they get a fake Social Security number and land a job, they all know to put down 20 dependents on their W-4 so that no taxes are withheld from their check. They don't file tax returns, so a high percentage of them never see an audit. Those who do get contacted by the IRS simply get a new fake SS number, rinse and repeat.
