Farts can be silent but deadly but they typically don't kill you. Nor can you get infected with someone's fart and develop Fart Syndrome, have a fart attack, or spread that to someone else whether by sneezing, coughing or farting. Also that's not how it works. They don't stop viruses passing through the fabric (viruses are extremely tiny so go straight through the holes, just like microscopic farticles that pass through your underpants and still reach your nose); they're there to stop water droplets and mucus when you speak and cough, which contain the virus, in order to slow down transmission to others, which slows the spread in the population, which ultimately protects you. Try standing close to someone who spits a lot when they talk, and compare the difference if they're wearing a mask. Also some people still wear masks for other things like if they have a cold, to help prevent everyone else at work/on public transport catching it. 💦😷
