Does it seem like there is too much emphasis on the Pope? The Bible does not even mention a Pope.

So, the Gospel, where Jesus says "....Upon this rock I build my church" doesn't ring a bell ?

They have a library and everything at The Vatican. Surprise! They also keep a list, and the first Pope
is the namesake for the Basilica that Michelangelo designed and the Dome of St. Peters was built.
Yet, yeah the guy that denied knowing Christ 3x before the Rooster Crowd isn't in The Bible?, umkay

Yes, that bible that is a collection of books (The word biblos translated means collection of books) put together in the fourth century at a council of Bishops much like the Cardinals that got together to vote for this Pope. The one that was hand copied by Catholic Monks for Centuries prior to the Gutenberg Press, and prior to anybody translating it into English by commission of CATHOLIC turned Protestant King James, whose CATHOLIC mother Mary Queen of Scots was executed by Order of her cousin.
That, King James Protestant Version you quote as not mentioning a pope was commissioned and exists ONLY because of PAPISTS through the centuries.

Love 'em or Hate 'em, you are unable to disagree with them by using The Good Book that they passed onto you without displaying ridiculous disrespect to 1.406 Billion humans we all share the planet with.
It's not a good look for anyone to meme such easily demonstrated incorrect statements.

If you ask me, that $500,000 ring the Pope wears will not pass through the eye of a needle
3 ups, 2w
Getting a Camel through the Eye of a Needle is a job for the Jesuit Order.
They might rarely be successful, yet one might imagine that they have fun trying.

True. And Saint Peter was followed by Saint Linus, the first Roman Citizen Pope. He ordained several bishops and was mentioned in the Book of Timothy II.

Could you square that for me with- “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;
you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments."

The Catholic church is full of graven images of Jesus hanging on a cross, but He isn't there, He is risen.

Then there is this one “You shall have no other gods before Me." I know many Catholics who seem to view Il Papa as God.

Then the "voice of God" is elected by 130+ men?

Maybe I can buy my way into heaven by paying indulgences to the church? After hanging out in non-Biblical purgatory for a while of course.

The last dead Pope also said there is more than one way to God, when Jesus who is fully man and fully God said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." Was Papa Francis in on a little secret?

Don't get me wrong, a lot of religions are the doctrines of men which separate them from faith and grace. I agree the catholic church preserved much scripture, but the Codex Vaticanus contains a number of errors, repetitions of verses copied, large blanks where verses are omitted.

The pope is merely a man. Bottom line is that it is all about Jesus Christ, not Pope Leo the 1st or the Leo the 184th.
I hope this man is a Godly man who is faithful to scripture for the sake of 1.406 Billion humans.

There in a nutshell is one of the key differences between Catholicism and Protestantism. Catholics believe that the Pope's ex-cathedra infallibility on matters of doctrine is (in effect) an apostolic gift handed down from St. Peter, through the medium of the Church. Protestants tend to be more Biblically literalist.

Martin Luther was a Catholic Priest
2 ups, 2w
True. It was not his intention to start a new denomination. Others did that.
2 ups, 1w
Well, if people can use pictures of a Jew to represent Christianity, just because he started it, we can use a picture of Martin Luther to represent Protestants for the same reason.

Of course you would never catch a Protestant wearing a garment that mixed linen and wool, or eating spare ribs: they read the Bible far too closely for that. ;)

I never got that prohibition. Depending on what was for dinner the night before, doesn't holding it in actually take more effort than not?

As a vegetarian, I couldn't possibly.

I would think that holding it in for too long could actually be damaging.
2 ups, 1w
Oh yeah, that as well. And going back to a time when refrigeration and preservatives wasn't a thing, the effort could be counterproductive in so many ways.

Catholics only compiled and formatted it for the whole of Christianity to refer to in a book as well as various religious customs, including establishing the Church and the religion.

Although Protestants don't recognize the Pope, so that's really truly one heckuva monumentous Earth shattering upheaval.

Yes, they do, just as much as any other Christian denomination does. Either you want to level this criticism at all Christians, or at none.

I'm a Lutheran with several Catholic relatives. I don't see a whole lot if difference. We agree on many more things than we disagree on.

You are trying to argue with me something black and white, there is no argument. Only similarities with Luteran to Catholic, compared to most other evangelical churches, is that priest wears robes. Yo do not go confessing your sins to a priest, you go directly to Jesus. You do not worship virgin Mary or Lasarus, you strictly worship God's trinity.

It is a part but not all of it. What did Jesus said was the greatest commandments? Who did Jesus said is the ONLY one who could forgive sins?

The Lord's Prayer says "forgive us our trespasses, AS. WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US." i.e. we should all forgive.
0 ups, 6d
Yes we forgive those who transparent against us, but only God forgives sin. Context is important.
