Closest I ever seen to any of that was when I said how they were entire housing developments springing up where the main driver of the economy was the real estate development itself. Then reallyitsjohn chimed in, saying that living in Arizona, yes, he had witnessed many a town pop out in the desert, build at words till they hit zoning limits, and then the builders went on to the next new development elsewhere. Once they were gone, the main source of income for said town with dry up. This was around 2018, maybe 2017.
