ABM- Always Be Manipulating

Harsh "Slum Lord" laws would crush corporate attempts to take over housing. A private owner can get away with shoddy work, but strict slum lord laws would cost corporations so much in housing maintenance and repairs that it would be unprofitable. And low income renters and welfare recipients are notorious for damaging property.

"The government made housing expensive in the first place"

If you can't figure out how the government is directly responsible (also to that guy below you) then I guess we'll just have to call it a day and give up

Government didn’t make houses expensive Wall Street f**king the economy into a coma, breaking the law, and buying everything after betting against the market they set up to fail caused housing to be expensive.

There are more then enough vacant viable homes to house every one in America the problem is more then 1/3-1/2 are owned by corporate interests and Wall Street.

Like I said to the guy above, this has been explained time and time again, it's boring, it's tiring, I'm sure most people are fed up with explaining it and making memes about it every week for 10 years to absolutely no avail

Go do your own research ...or don't .. whatever.
2 ups, 4mo
No it hasn't.
But hey, don't let that stop you. Rather than explaining how it's supposedly has been explained so you're not going to bother, skip that and simply indulge the reading audience anyways.
We'd really like to hear.

Conspiracy theories from the right is not research.

When the right says do your own research they don’t mean it. It means “go away until you agree with me” because every time we actually provide literal actual research proving them wrong they deny it or say “your brainwashed do your own research”

Which is just an ending dialogue loop akin to fallout 3.

When the right says do your own research, its because a couple 100 memes explain exactly the point, and despite the fact that liberals often have ample amount of time to comment on just about every meme that gets uploaded, they all just so happen to miss every one of them explaining the topic at hand. Its a remarkable coincidence.

So yeah, im also tired of explaining this over and over since 2009. Either you get it or you don't.

When the Right says do your own research for their claim, it's because there's none that can be done for it, hence why they can't do it for themselves.

But anyways, post it. Post some of those 100 memes. Just a tenth. Just 10 memes.

I'll wait.

As it's been said this topic has been done to death but Ive got 5 minutes before work so here's some of the jist of things until I have to go

The governments zoning, permits and types of required property massively restrict the number of houses being built.
THEN the excessive building regulations and taxes make it cheaper to just buy a house instead of building a new one.
THEN the government refuses to allow almost any kind of modern tech building and refuses to build any itself.
THEN it brings in tens of thousands of people a year to compete for what's left + normal population growth

Ultimately that artificially skews supply and demand and costs keep going up, and because it keeps going up it becomes an outright profitable business, which is where companies like BlackRock show up..

Everything gets bought, costs keep going up, mortgages higher, rental rates to cover them go higher
Rinse and repeat.

There's like a dozen more things but I'm out of time. Seriously this comes up on imgflip all the time, just go look

Closest I ever seen to any of that was when I said how they were entire housing developments springing up where the main driver of the economy was the real estate development itself. Then reallyitsjohn chimed in, saying that living in Arizona, yes, he had witnessed many a town pop out in the desert, build at words till they hit zoning limits, and then the builders went on to the next new development elsewhere. Once they were gone, the main source of income for said town with dry up. This was around 2018, maybe 2017.

Now I haven't seen every meme, but reallyitsjohn was last active well before you joined.
And in 8 years, that was the only discussion on the subject I ran across, but you ran across tons since joining in 2022?

We don’t miss it we ignore it because it’s mostly batshit crazy.

Like freedom toons blaming it on the the Rothschilds.

Hey remember when bankers intentionally crashed THE ENTIRE GLOBAL ECONOMY by setting up the housing market to fail

Then bet against it…
Then bought all the foreclosed properties…
Then began renting them out
AND THEN hired algorithm companies to price fix their rent prices so they could break anti trust laws so they could charge EVEN MORE.

I’m what part of shape does that have anything to do with government controlling the market when banks LITERALLY BOUGHT IT OUT.

I remember Barney Frank made a fortune that way as he set it up.

Then why didn't government(s) put a halt to it any of it the moment the scam started to reveal itself?
0 ups, 4mo
Lobbying, moneyed interests, and including the perpetrators in government appointments.

Like Steve Mnuchin who was the head of Goldman Sachs during the 2008 crash …was trumps treasury secretary.

Had there been more regulations they wouldn’t have been able to do that.

Democrats are not leftists. Sorry. They are capitalist neoliberals.

A leftist is a communist

Then just say communist so we can ignore the sheer stupidity of that opinion and talk to someone else instead.

Why masquerade all the time with this nonsense 'leftist' title so people have to keep asking what you're even talking about
3 ups, 4mo
Typical liberal mumbo jumbo. Confuse, conflate, inject nonsensical jargon into every conversation, like it's a job. Maybe it is. IMO
