Well Regulated “ meaning being proficient in the use of the chosen weapon. In the 1780’s, that was usually a smooth-bore musket.
In the 1780’s that meant being able to load and fire at least 3 balls in one minute.
It did NOT mean “regulated” in the sense that rules and laws governing who could posses or own said weapons.
In todays world, that would equate to being proficient in the use of the AR style semi-automatic rifle.

When the IRS is armed, so should the citizenry! Thanks for the comment, Merry!

Ridiculous.

If the IRS needs to arrest someone, then enlist their friends from the FBI. The IRS is bad enough as is, they certainly don't need to be armed in order to steal our money.

Ma Deuce, Dark-0 is argumentative. Once he/she has what their mind thinks of as a bone, he/she will go back 90+ years to give an example. There's no hope of relevant conversation. They just like fighting.

I will dispute what I think is BS.

For example:
"Darko will go back 90+ years to give an example"

..I will also go back 3 months.

...Or 6 hours.

Potato / Potawto.

Bruhhh...

I saw them talking about me "using 90+ year old examples" and i was like bruhhhh...

( because I had previously sent them that 3 month old example in a different comment. But to be fair maybe they hadn't seen it yet or didn't pay attention to the date, idk.)

I seem to recall hearing somewhere that it meant the weapons were kept clean and in good working order. I'm not saying you're wrong, but if it meant "proficient in the use of the chosen weapon", it would he redundant to also then say "composed of the people trained to arms."

"Regulated doesn't mean REGULATED regulated, it just means they know how to pull the trigger"

Yeah, sure, ok.

Just like a lot of words today, "gender" for example, the meaning of the word regulated in the constitution isn't the same as the meaning now.

It would be paradoxical for an amendment intending to protect against a tyrannical government to allow that same government to impose regulations, in your sense of the word.

It was intended to conscript adult white male citizens into military service at a moment's notice, as the fledgling government couldn't even afford to mint money, let alone pay for standing army. That's right, it grants the God-given right to get drafted. For free. And it's a BYOGun deal, and ammo too.
