Got my vote! I don't see any risk from restoring national sovereignty, India did, as did others. I only see upside.

Traditional U.S. citizens believe in independence. So who knows what the average Dem Party leftist voters believes?

That aside, yes, Scotland should become independent. It's a risky business, but worth it. You succeed or fail exclusively on your own merits and ability to intelligently rule yourselves in the long term. Your successes are your own . . . as well as responsibility for the inevitable failures that occasionally occur.

Some advice-
1) Don't be IRA about it.
2) Don't put up with traitors to the cause.(Isn't that what ultimately cost Ireland?)
3) Make sure your George Washington is a George Washington and not a Fidel Castro pretending to be a George Washington.

I am 1/4 scotch, and will never eat haggis. My two cents, which are definitely overpriced, is that our founders loved this country because we were isolated from the constant wars in Europe. Also, it’s really cold and rainy there.

Seriously, though, the only opinions that matter are yours in Scotland and the United Kingdom. I know when Richard “dick the kids” Branson gives us a tongue lashing on politics, I love it - not!

Is the UK the problem or the socialists? You guys broke from the European Union because in a moment of clarity you realized the socialist countries were leeching off you - and Germany. That’s a start.

They voted and lost the 2014 independence referendum, the 1997 vote was a pre-legislative referendum held in September of that year over whether there was support for the creation of a Scottish Parliament. That vote was successful. The 2014 was an agreed once in a lifetime vote and that disbars a rerun.

What you're advocating for is Romantic, yet the honeymoon might be over,
and now a Divorce could lead to a child custody battle royale, metaphorically.

So effectively gain independence by
disbanding the Unity that unites the United Kingdom of Great Britain....
One can't blame the Scots for desiring to possess independence.
They've always had it in their hearts and minds, and always will retain ownership.
Someone might need to write a Declaration, in response to the resounding support of the referendum.

If you wish to look to a democratic republic style of Gov't. best get a copy of the US Constitution
and pay close attention to individual property rights, and the entire Bill of Rights and individual sovereignty.
Since Scotland is an active member of the UK, it appears Charles III currently owns the dirt. If so, what price are people willing to pay for the purchase?

When one considers Scotland's Population is nearly equivalent to the USA state of Colorado,
or in other words the combination of populations of three USA Cities,
Houston, Chicago, & Virginia Beach, one imagines that the UK must need Natural Resources
and sea to sea military security over the one island, which was United under the Union Jack,
while in North America, the Virginia Colony was still a Commonwealth of England.

...if the state of Colorado today were to attempt to secede from the Union... it might be rough
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To Declare Independence, the USA wrote one, then went to War with the UK
To Secede from the Union, in the USA, 4 states seceded, which began their Civil War 1861-1865.

So, what you're seeking is Dangerous, and historically has had consequences.

Yet, if War is worth going through for you, and still share an island with those you wish to disband from in the aftermath, who is anyone in the USA NOT to root for the 750 Clans of Scotland?
Consider,
Some Scots may still align with England, as are now related Clan members.
Have any British Prime Ministers claimed to be a direct descendant of Robert The Bruce?
Has any living British Prime Ministers claimed to be a direct descendant of John Comyn "The Red"
Is anyone in the Royal Family related to either of these chaps as a descendant?
What is Scotland planning to do with Balmoral, in this Utopian ideal of Independence ?

Note taken: I Acknowledge the reply to be more lengthy than a tweet, yet more contemplative.
A person can hope other Scots are Literate,
& politely more discerning, & less inclined to mock input they solicit in earnest.

All said and done this is a funny meme, in the same way someone elsewhere here uses the term scotch to describe the Scots. Are they illiterate or just another woke useful idiot jumping on the band wagon so they can make a noise without any understanding of the question?
1 up, 11mo
That's outrageously ironic.
Re: Using the term Scotch to describe the Scots.
Maybe he was claiming 25% ancestors, like one grandparent full Scots on the DNA trail?
That, or maybe just saying he's 750ml into some 12yr Glenlivet.
So in that case, more likely a Fifth, rather than 1/4 into the game.
We may never learn. It's all Greek to Americans
1 up, 11mo
So be it. Your loss.

Input was asked for in apparent sincerity..
and in a polite reply, thoughts were freely shared.

Is it nap time at the Play School?
Can it be time to Get some milk and lay down a blanket,
and then maybe someone literate in the class can read it for the group?
Alas, an Ass !!! "Eeeee-Haw, Eeeee-haw!"

A person can hope other Scots are more discerning & less inclined to mock input they solicit.

An excellent resource for really understanding is the heritage guide to the <United States > constitution. It’s a big book but well written and in depth. Very applicable to today.

It is something the people involved would need to come together on.
It's up to ya'll. Just as it's up to us in the states to take our country back.
If the U.S. is as strong as the world thinks it is, it's time for the American people to show it and get ourselves back to our Constitution by dismantling the bureaucracies that hinder liberty.

In theory I like the idea of independence for Scotland. But since the main supporter is the SNP I don't have high hopes that it would turn out well if it comes to pass.
1 up, 11mo
For sure....No more money from Westminster, a corrupt SNP. A Parliament that thinks all its citizens are "Piss Heads Heid the baws" that imposes the highest tax in Europe on Scotlands National Sport....drinking. We have three very successful business in Edinburgh and there's nothing wrong with the Scots people. They are the victims of mindless woke idiots that have run the country to almost bankruptcy due to their delusional Mel Gibson fixation that gaining independence and joining the EU would resolve all their problems and also hide the massive fraud perpetrated by that Banshee Sterling and her cronies with the welcoming tributes paid from Brussels to new members for accepting a non elected legislator and a puppet Parliament.

Reason why Scotland lost was because of betrayal. Protip for modern Scotland - in your quest for independence take down any traitors even if it means planting them six feet under.
