The Civil War was about the economy. The ownership of Black human beings was the economy of both the North and the South. This wasn't about the freedom of Black human beings. This was about their money. The vile slaveowners were paid reparations for the loss of their human beings. Imagine that. They were paid for the loss of ownership of human beings. Do you know what the newly freed human beings received? Nothing. Nothing. Do you know what those "freedom fighters" did? Circumvent the new law of freed human beings by promptly arresting them because the imprisoned could still be used as a free work source. This is why there are so many Black people imprisoned. Most of it, as recently exposed, was on made-up charges they couldn't fight against and all-white juries. Black people had no justice, no freedom, but they had a lot of stereotypes applied to them. This one is my favorite. Black people are lazy. Yet, Black people were the ones working. The human owners sat on the porch and drank mint juleps while directing some of the most brutal and sadistic overseers to whip, rape, and or lynch human beings. Why were Black children called "alligator bait"? I have to stop here. I can fill myself about to dump American history all over this box. Real American History not white washed by the Daughters of the Confederacy is anathema to your reality.
