And when the Biden Administration brought back US Marine /Veteran Trevor Reed from a Russian prison earlier this year, that was also pretty cool.

That being said, conservatives can hold two entirely valid thoughts in their head at the same time. We can be glad that Griner got released AND at the very same time we can ask the hard questions of our elected "leaders" such as "We gave up an international arms dealer that is responsible for thousands of deaths and all we got in return is a cbd oil smuggler?"

I mentioned that just in case Whelan does end up getting released and repubs try to flip the script doing a 180° on the matter.

It would seem the more time from now until that happens, the more likely a 180° would be.... I have serious doubts that trade or negotiation will happen though considering we're basically in a proxy war with Russia, he's been found guilty of espionage, and it has been reported that he (allegedly) had a USB memory stick with "state secrets" of the names of security agents and whatever else.
