“It's my estimation that every man ever got a statue made of him was one kind of a son of a bitch or another." --Malcolm Reynolds, Firefly

Having said that, a fair point is made here.

One the one hand, you have a bunch of little groups of unaffiliated folks who are technologically stranded in the stone age. On the other hand, you have a technologically advancing civilization on the cutting edge of chemistry, metallurgy, biology, and mechanical engineering. What pray tell, did you imagine was going to happen when they crossed paths?

The vast majority of these so-called "indigenous peoples" were still using stone knives and animal skins exactly like their ancestors did thousands of years before. It may be harsh to say, but it seems to me that nature selected them for extinction.

We weren’t ‘indigenous’.

We were just the first colonizers.

We just weren’t very good at it.

Up-voted. What I find hilarious is that all the -- mostly leftist -- haters of Christopher Columbus are able to hate only because long ago the explorer . . . explored. Chances are that otherwise they would today be peasants laboring in fields.

People complain that the Europeans enslaved the native people but it's just the law of nature. It's called survival of the fittest.

Well there is a theory that there was a giant civilization that spanned coast to coast. But nobody can figure out what happened to it. It supposed to be like the Mayans but on a much bigger scale of vanishing without a trace.

I read an article similar to that, it said that yes, they were kind of like a mini Europe, with the small kingdoms, and that in Central and South America there were bigger civilizations, and that they used to have better technology, but natural changes to the landscape and environment led to them going back to the Stone Age. But this meme is still true.

Who knows men may once look on the ruins of our cities and say,”what happened to the people that built these?”

What does that have to do with my comment? Although, probably true

Well you said there was a civilization that was large with technology that disappeared but environmental changes led to them going back to the Stone Age. So my comment meant maybe that will happen to us and we will be forgotten and no one will know who we were.

No, people will know we where here. The billions of tons of concrete and steel making up even a small city guarantee that we will not be forgotten. Also, before you think of “climate change” when I said environmental changes, I did not mean that. I mean things like farmland flooding due to a change in weather patterns causing it to eventually turn into a cloud forest in a thousand years, or cities sinking into the ground because it was built on a swamp, etc, etc.

I did not mean climate change either and didn’t take your statement to either. Though I’m sure some might assume that. Evidence of our existence will be here as is evidence of the lost civilizations are, but the people and their way of life and are forgotten.

I feel like all of our records, either digital, or hard copies will survive. Lockboxes that you can get at Walmart are basically indestructible and airtight. not to mention any maximum security vaults of records.

Hopefully we never get to be a lost civilization, but it has happened. I don’t think an indestructible claim recons for a meteor strike or other extreme conditions.

Yes, a flood did change the climate, here is how. Noah’s Flood. A catastrophic global flood that covered the tallest mountains and shifted the continents. It says in Genesis that “the fountains of the deep were broken up, and the floodgates of heaven were opened” Genesis 7:11. Now, small asteroids could have hit the Earth during this time, but not 1 big one. The flood cracked the original supercontinent, and rearranged the landmasses to where they are today. It wiped out everything. “And in that day, every creature that had the breath of life in its nostrils was wiped out; men and animals and creatures that move along the ground and the birds of the air were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the Ark.” Genesis 7:23. Man was wicked in the sight of the Lord, and he was sorry he had created us, so he told Noah, the only righteous man left (Well, him and his family) to build an Ark, and God brought 2 of every created kind to Noah, and they were put in the Ark, and they survived the Flood. Dinosaurs died after the flood because all that new water that was in Earth lowered its temperature, and changed the climate, so they could not adapt, and they died out.

We won’t die from a meteor. (I don’t want to get into an argument about this) Only God can destroy humanity, and he will only do that on the day of Judgment
0 ups, 2y
Lol we would most certainly could die from a meteor if it’s big enough or hits the right place relative to where you are. All things can be buried, erased or hidden in time. I’m simply saying what happened to ancient civilization can happen to us and people in a 1000 years may well find our “stuff” and say “who were these people.”

an asteroid won't hit us for the exact reason of it would destroy us. God will not let anything destroy us. Only he will destroy humanity.
0 ups, 2y
You do know an asteroid likely already hit us right? Dinosaurs and all.

The Dino’s died because they could not adapt to the climate after the flood
0 ups, 2y
So you reject that an asteroid hit earth? How did a flood change the climate?

https://answersingenesis.org/the-flood/
The evidence overwhelmingly points to a catastrophic global flood. And if you say "There is evidence of asteroid strikes" Yes. During the flood, asteroids hit Earth. But 1 big one did not do all the work. And all the oceanic fossils on top of mountains for example, the simplest way for them to have gotten there would be, a massive flood covering the mountains
