Haiti was the first to abolish it after gaining independence from Napoleon and France. England was the first important power to ban, then outlaw it. France followed shortly after. It was outlawed in parts of Africa and the Middle East decades after, but was still practiced for decades more as the laws were not strictly enforced.

2500 years ago the Persian empire banned slavery, granted freedom of religion, and people's rights. King Cyrus the Great created the first charter of human rights, written on clay, called the Cyrus Cylinder (:
Yet somehow in every corner of Cyrus’ kingdom slavery was still practiced. That’s an erroneous claim based on one passage in a commentary. Slavery was definitely practiced in his realm before and after Cyrus.
That’s debatable, according to scholars the whole assumption is from one passage regarding removing the yoke from the people he conquered. It is more likely it continued throughout the period among the Babylonians he conquered and others as always. He allowed religious freedom and the Jews to return. He was a humanist, but to say he abolished slavery is a stretch. It is obvious that it was ineffective if people within his empire routinely practiced it.
And that's how the Arabs of Egypt had the Pyramids built.

You are absolutely wrong slavery was invented in the United States of America and perpetrated by republicans republicans are the worst.
The good democrats of our nation decided that slavery was wrong and they love the black people so much that they wanted to free them so they fought the Union so that the Union would stop holding slaves.
I know this because I read it in my 2nd grade history book this year thank you very much for your time.
This has changed my views entirely and now I'm convinced that the only way to end slavery is to spread Marxism into every government and force the whole planet to do "Hail Marx" salutes every 10 minutes for a "mental check up" to ensure everyone is on the same page.
I think we can all agree that every single ethnic group has experienced slavery. Contradictory to left believes, it is not exclusive to black people in United States.
True, I smile when a leftist calls me a racist, one because they can't see a family photo and also because it is a badge of honor, it is how they admit they cannot defeat your arguments with reason, proof or logic.
