Trick question. You don't survive a zombie apocalypse, because the zombie apocalypse is the END.

But the primitive urge to survive kicks in and that causes people to have the fight or flight instinct which is more flight than fight, but in the end we all die but it's the choice to give up or live for as long as possible and possibly fullfil the human task to be born create offsprings and die

And then your children get eaten by zombies, because that's what happens.

But of course, everybody knows the real threat in a zombie apocalypse are the other "survivors." Yeah, the sweet little girl will always be bitten and subsequently mercy killed in the most heart-breaking way imaginable or gnawed to death by zombies, but at the end of the day, it's other survivors who are really going to massacre your entire group.

Thatz why I'd have a similar system of choosing people and disposing of the ones who try to take over my base
