The 2A is for both individual and militia. Problem with conservatives today is that they have been deceived to believe it is only for individual. Hence they form their argument around individual rights, self-protection, stand your ground, etc... none of which is for the main purpose of 2A, which is to prevent the take over of a tyrannical government.

2A guarantees the legal rights of "regulated" militia. Again, conservatives have been misled to believe "regulated" means gun control. No, "regulated" means training and organization. We are allowed to form regulated militia to defend our rights. A militia can be as small as a handful of individuals or it can be a state wide military like Texas. If Texas secedes today, they have the military power to resist if the federal government decides to invade.

This is important because a bunch of individuals with guns is not a threat to a tyrannical government. However, regulated (trained and organized) bunch of armed individual is. The real threat to tyranny is organization, this is why China bans religion. The monks, priests, and pastors don't even have guns.This is what conservatives should be focused on when it comes to 2A.

For WWI this force was expanded exponentially. For the first time after the war the RIF (Reduction in Force) was not massive.

For WWII the forces were again multiplied. And again again the RIF was smaller. Korea, Vietnam, middle east.
