Actually energy independence means less foreign oil but sure, try to spin it

You mean use only our oil. Did you know that in the US with forecasted increases in population - that we have 500 years worth of oil?

Now - technology increases and such year over year... Do you really think in 500 years we won't have an alternative to oil consumption? Of course we will - because technology keeps doubling in capabilities every 1.5 to 2.5 years.

So going strictly into using only US produced Oil for the the US isn't an idea that would bite us in the butt... But you know, keep spinning that story bro

We can grow our own oil now with bacteria eating bio-degradable food waste. Its just not cheap enough to replace oil drilling yet.

We can't use ONLY our oil. Unless:
A. We FORCE oil companies to ONLY sell to the USA (That's called Communism)

The REAL answer is we use less oil. Period. That's it. That alone is the only feasible way to be "energy independent."

We CAN use less oil. Simply driving more efficient cars including hybrids and EVs would allow us to use less oil. Maybe even enough to NOT have to buy foreign oil.

See, gasoline comes from ONE source: OIL. Electric can come from MANY sources that are NOT oil: Nuclear, Wind, and solar for example, all of which are homegrown. If we simply use more electricity (and less gasoline) to power normal consumer vehicles, the demand for oil would drop dramatically, which in turn would help to make the USA "energy independent." Oil companies are already embracing the idea of becoming "energy" companies because they are smart and see the profit motive. We as citizens should embrace this concept to be less dependent on outside countries for our energy, including oil which is necessary not just for gasoline but all kinds of other products and fuels.

Actually we can impose a tariff on exporting oil to other countries to encourage them to sell it here. Eventually they'll sell enough here that we'll be completely independent.

Tariffs are another word for anti-capitalism. How'd those Trump tariffs work out? Tariffs raise prices to the consumer. And we are back to high priced gas. The way to LOWER prices is to lower demand. Plain and simple.

Tariffs go hand in hand with capitalism. It's a tax. Capitalism is always intertwined with taxes in some form.

We are already doing that. Cars of the seventies got 18 mpg highway. My car get 34 mpg highway.

Then I guess we need to do more? Clearly the demand is outpacing the supply. So we need to decrease the demand.
