As far as culture and values, Oklahoma is in line with the other southern states. It may not be in the Deep South geographically, but it's often lumped in with them just like Texas

There's a lot of overlap. Parts of California are considered the southwest even though the whole state isn't really thought of as a southwestern state. Same with Texas. West Texas is definitely a southwestern region
