A "wildlife preserve" near me (within a mile) had a lion in a cage. I want to say it was 10x10 - not big. You could hear the lion roaring all day long, and into the night. That lion died in the cage after 3 years - they never let it out once. The owner of the preserve drank himself to death a few years later and all of his caged animals were taken to other facilities. Everyone in the county breathed a sigh of relief.

Life is eternal. Freedom is far more valuable.

People killing lions is not what I am talking about. 99.99999% of the world has never killed a lion and the vast majority of them have never seen a lion outside of a zoo or on TV. The only way I would ever kill a lion is in self defense. I think people who kill animals just for the fun of it. I am not at all opposed to deer, elk or other animals that people hunt for food but hunting a lion serves no purpose. I think they are borderline psychopaths.

It was a backspacing error when I was correcting the sentence after that one. It went too far back.

I was going to say borderline psychopaths. Misguided and cruel works also.

I'm not at all opposed to hunting if your goal is to eat the animal. Also, the state of Utah will pay $50 for proof that you killed a coyete. Coyotes are causing serious problems with livestock and so the state is taking action and asking people to kill them. I don't have a problem with that either.

Thanks. I try to be civil. I'm not perfect but I am trying. I would much rather have a discussion than an argument. In a discussion both sides usually learn something. In an argument both sides learn nothing and end up being angry. So given the choice of learning something or getting angry I chose learn something.

I'm not a hunter. Sometimes I think I would like to learn how to hunt but then the cold weather sets in and the last place I want to be us at a higher elevation, where it is even colder, sitting around waiting for a deer to show up. I think probably the only time I would ever shoot an animal is if I had a gun with me when a bear showed up and he was very hungry. The same with a mountain lion. But I wouldn't just shoot them because I saw them, it would only shoot them if they looked at me like I was a yummy snack.

That's the question mankind has been asking since the beginning.

The only reason why you can come to the conclusion that life would have no meaning if life was eternal is because you don't know anything about the entire plan that God set out for is. We lived with God before we were born and we will live on after we die. This life is just a stage on our overall progression.

If life was finite then it would truly be without meaning or purpose.

An eternity of learning is meaningful. There is so much that we have no clue about in the universe. There is just so much to learn and do. For as much as we have learned in this life it is still nothing compared to what we will learn in the eternities.
