Vaccines are, as of now, the only way to stop this. Most of the cases in America right now are among the unvaccinated. Stop going against the only thing that might save you.

Iceland, Isreal, Gibraltar, and Singapore, are all over 90% vaccinated, and all have higher rates than we do. In Israel, 80% of all reported deaths are now among those fully vaccinated.

In the U.S., the CDC does not record a breakthrough case unless the person is hospitalized or dies, so we don't know how many of the people who test positive are fully vaccinated. We only know if they are hospitalized or die.

There are even earnest discussions (in california) of requiring indoor businesses (i.e. grocery stores) to require proof of vax before allowing patrons to enter. I hope it wont happen because it would be burdensome for businesses and is discriminatory (homeless people would not even be able to purchase food), and that is in addition to the discussion of medical autonomy.

I agree with you. The whole point of HIPPA is to protect your medical privacy. If people who you want to to keep it private from are entitled to demand it anyways, because it supposedly "doesn't apply to them" then there is no point to HIPPA anyhow.
But that is the sort of attitudes and mental gymnastics we are dealing with in these times, and unfortunately the overwhelming attitude we are getting is that we are not entitled to medical freedom. Sure, they'll give the ideal lip service, but you are only free to make the choices they dictate.

I'm not saying I agree with the law. I think it sucks that there's a loop-hole in it big enough to drive a truck through. But because there is this is why businesses and other entities are getting away with making the vaccine a contingency or requirement of employment.

Also as far as HIPPA and health care providers? Try NOT signing that HIPPA consent form at the Doctor's office and see if you even get inside the door of the exam room. All that law does is to protect someone else's liability.

They were supposed to be 95% effective in preventing you from getting the virus. Now we see that they are less than 40% effective at stopping the virus and don't stop the vaccinated from spreading it at all.

Pfizer is 42% effective in preventing inflection, but very effective in making your illness a 2 day stay at home affair like any illness & keeping you out of the hospital or worse.

Yale Medicine puts Pfizer at 95% effective, although they acknowledge that there is an not-yet-reviewed study that puts it as low as 84%. So again, I don't know where the 42% came from, but a reduction is a reduction even if you were correct.

Isreal, which is 90% vaccinated puts the efficacy rate of Pfizer at 39%.

Modena had 76% effectiveness against transmission. “Further evaluation of mechanisms underlying differences in their effectiveness such as dosing regimens and vaccine composition are warranted.”

The Mayo Clinic study focuses ENTIRELY on the Delta variant, which was not specifically being discussed in the OP or this thread.

One of the two things that MIGHT happen with Delta is that it takes over as the dominant form of the virus and breaks through the vaccination barriers, but you do not know that yet. NOBODY DOES. Early signs cautiously seem to indicate that the virus does, as you yourself have noticed, impact the vaccinated much less harshly, setting up for an endemic outbreak among highly vaccinated communities that will become seasonal or even pass entirely - but, and I cannot stress this enough, our biggest advantage right now against Delta is that the vaccine successfully reduced the number of infections to something much more manageable in highly vaccinated communities.

Except for Texas Florida Missouri Missippi Arkansas Alabama and Louisiana where they didn't do that and indeed they're putting us all in danger by making it likely that they'll breed even more mutations.
