Honestly - what is going on with fast food employees... | Fast Food Employees continue to call for $15 an hour.... For LESS work than I did from early 1996 to late 1998 - that only started me off at $4.15/hour. Tell you what - if you manage to get napkins in the bag, without placing them right on the hash browns or fries... Then I'll get behind your ridiculous request. | image tagged in mcdonald's,fast food, paycheck, politics lol | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

The problem with having robots make burgers is you would start hearing people complain that big tech was denying them their 1st amendment right to gorge on food.

If you want to live in a capitalist society where money is required to stay alive, You better accept that everyone should get a living wage so everyone can get a chance at life.

Ok from the opposite side... If you want $15/hour for work, do $15/hour quality of work.

Since they can't do that - I can't get behind their cause. I did $15/hour quality for basically $5/hour.

"We will engineer cars to hook together and travel as a big long line"

"before rail will make a COME BACK!"

look up "Brightline". Also, why do europe and japan spend a lot on rail? Couldn't be because it's a proven solution to the vast majority of transportation problems compared to Houston's 18 lane highway or Atlanta's overcrowded airport

my guy doesn't know a thing about logistics or capacity

"Welcome to the future"

ahahaha the future involves bad traffic and poor fuel efficiency and apparenly was over half a century ago.

Wages are also way different

the value of money too

in 1996 $1 was worth about $1.72

so 4.15 dollars multiplied by the price change (%71.57)

its about 7 dollars

and using inflation for literally anything that's the same amount as now days of cost of living

car insurance costed less in 1996

Its inflation, it happens over time

The value of money changes over time

And this is a lie because minimum wage in those years was never less than 5 dollars

so don't be like that man

just chill out and realize as time goes on things change

and minimum wage is 14 dollars per hour

not 15

No it isn't a lie. It's a Typo. It's supposed to say $4.25. minimum wage was $4.25 from 1991 until late 1996 when it was increased to $4.75 (in Ohio). Meaning I started at $4.25 an hour. I managed to get my hourly wage up to $4.85 an hour before minimum wage increased. I received 0 raise because of that.

Also - do your research. Minimum wage in Ohio is currently $8/hour. With bills trying to get that increased to 10 by January 2022.

Car insurance in 1996 for an 18 year old for JUST liability was $106 a month.

They literally have a machine that makes the drinks. They literally have machine that counts the change. They literally have Kiosks that allow the customer to order themselves. They literally have a machine that drops a perfect amount of fries into the fry basket that goes into the oil to cook the fries. They literally have a model that keeps additional hands in the kitchen now, meaning the work is spread out more between employees. They literally have faster payment options with touch to device cards and credit payments. They literally hire more people and give less hours such that they don't have to provide health insurance. They literally just have to microwave pancakes now. They literally went through a Pandemic Year without having dining rooms open - which then didn't need cleaned. They literally have a smart easy to follow touch screen ordering system now.

If you think this is ANY way shape or form harder to do than having to do the opposite of all of that like I did, you don't understand what work is - or how much of it people do today compared to yesteryear.

What do you want, a f**king medal? That was a quarter century ago. Wages were less back then. Problem is they haven't improved much.
0 ups, 3y
No, problem is people thinking fast food should be a career. Only roughly 5 percent of fast food workers move on to assistant or management roles - due to people not wanting to smell like grease.

I can get behind $15 an hour for assist management roles. $ 21 for managers.

Not a wuss. It's inappropriate bc you're taking a dig at me. I'm the customer here. They can't provide grease free napkins. That's on them. Provide quality service & people don't complain.

But to provide that service & want $15 an hour - is a ridiculous request.

There was no need to swear or make it seem like I'm asking for a medal. I'm obviously not. I'm pointing out I did that job for way less.

If I wanted to brag I would mention I ran a cash drawer for 2 years with only ever having a discrepancy of 5 cents over once. Without a change dispenser.

Worked 12 hour shifts without a break every Saturday so I could afford my car insurance.

Was asked to participate in management which I declined.

Was asked to come work at 3 variant stores when filling in a slot at a location that was down an employee.

Or I would tell the story where I clocked out, paid for a meal for a homeless man that the manager kicked out, delivered said meal - then clocked back in. Spent my own barely any wages to feed a person in need. Didn't even get written up for that.

You're the wuss. You sit back behind a keyboard. Nay saying anything that doesn't align up with big daddy leftist democrat ideals. You're a disgrace to your cause, go eat a tub of Dairy Free Ben and Jerry's and call it a night.
